When you board the vessel everyone is greeted with bartenders in white gloves serving champagne for FREE and then you are taken to your cabin by a room steward.
you get champagne when you board, on your way into the captains toast (First formal night), and on the captains farewell (last formal night). celebrity comps a lot of champagne to ease any situation that may arise during the cruise. if you ever want to see free flowing champagne at it's best, book a new years cruise. at midnight, the champane is flowing from all directions (free of charge!)
You do get sparkling wine, however, I don't think they escort you to your cabin anymore, at least they didn't when we boarded in October.
The escort depends on what time you board. If you board early before all the rooms are ready, they ask that you wait in a public area until time so there is no escort. If you board around the published boarding time or after all the rooms are ready, you will get an white glove escort to your room.
