My most formal outfit is a pants outfit--sort of the tuxedo look-- I also wear the dresses but love that outfit so much. I have to make sure ALL my photos do not reveal how many cruises I have worn it on! anything dark will be fine with proper accessories--esp for someone in the super senior age range---enjoy! also keep in mind that public spaces can get chilly so a shawl or scarf may also be helpful!
We just got home today..had a super cruise! Will post a review later after I get caught up on business. Just wanted to say that this cruise was the most informal I've been on......guys showed up for formal night in sweaters and light suits (alot still wore the traditional tux or dark suits). Women wore anything from long gowns to pant suits. There were lots of shorts and jeans in the lounges on formal nights.
Mom fit in fine with what she wore and looked better than many. She had a great time, weather cooperated except for yesterday when it was VERY rough but both of us felt fine.
We both have some great memories and I'm glad I was able to take her
Popsec, Mom, Norm, Where did all of you guys go.. Did Mom eat?? What is the latest info?? OM
I'm stilll around.....as stated in my previous posting, we had a great time and Mom ate plenty. We didn't eat in the dining room on formal nights (and didn't plan to). We had great meals in "casual dining" and a super waiter. The ship didn't stay as formal on formal nights (even saw lots of jeans and shorts) so we were able to see all the entertainment without being out of place. Maybe it was just because it was the Bermuda run that things weren't so formal. My husband and I are leaving 2 weeks from Wed. for an 8 night E Carribean on the Carnival Legend. It should be quite a change from Celebrity but with the military rate, we couldn't not go!

Still here, lurking. There really is not much to say in this thread, other than that I'm glad that Popsec's Mom got to eat, but it's too bad that she missed out on formal evenings in the dining room. They are always extra-special!
Sometimes execution of policies does vary widely from one ship to another on the same line or even from one cruise to another on the same ship. Celebrity has a fairly strict policy of not allowing minors in the disco after 23:00, for example, and it's usually very strictly enforced. Nonetheless, on one of my cruises, a group of teens settled into a back corner of the disco a bit before 23:00 and were still there, chatting among themselves and not bothering anybody else, well past the deadline. They apparently ordered soda refills around 23:30 or so, as a bar server noticed that they were under age and brought that fact to one of the guest relations officers. The officer assessed the situation, realized that their presence was not causing any sort of disturbance, and decided to let them stay. I would not count on a similar decision on another Celebrity cruise, even on the same ship, though!
