Default Is a Pink tutu OK for Formal night?

I was in Ballet as a kid and I still have my Pink Tutu. I was wondering if I could wear that on formal night. It is a skirt however, the silver stars on it may look a little funny with my beehive hairstyle and Jimmy Choo shoes. It's either that or my old catholic school uniform. I didn't want to wear the uniform because I can't keep the pleats straight. Please any advise would be helpful. Thanks, Katlady

Katlady,Put on your tutu and let,s see if you can beat the system. My guess is that you would have no trouble on Carnival but will have to be on your toes (no pun intended) to make it by the enforcers on Celebrity.

It depends on what color your toe shoes are.

The shoes are silver and pink to match the TUTU. I want to put little silver star hair clips in my beehive hairstyle. It's look good with my baby blue powder eyeshadow. Don't you think.

NO NO NO baby blue eyeshadow will not do! Silver shadow, with sparkles of course, will tie together the whole costume--excuse me--ensemble. Please have a formal photgraph taken to share here with all of us, your admiring fans.

You are kidding right?

What you describe sounds perfect for the 50's sock hop they have on board. But it sounds like your mocking the idea of formal night. I'm sure the outfit looks great for clubbing...but not for the Captains party or a formal night.

If you can afford to go on a cruise you can certainly afford a little black cocktail dress that you will mostlikely wear again.

However if you are not kidding....Carnival sounds like an appropriate cruise line for you, and spring break sounds like the perfect time to plan your vacation.

Just my opinion.

Hi Dave,
Thanks, for taking the time to reply. I did think about the little black cocktail dress. However, everyone has done that already. I wanted something new different. I wanted to take a fashion risk.

I went on Carnival and I did the little black cocktail dress it's just time to shake things up and have a little fun with fashion. I'm not a spring break like of person too old. That's for the 20 year olds. I still could use some advise on jewelry if you have any tips?
Thanks,
Katlady 8)

It would appear that Celebrity has taken the lead in enforcing dress code and in particular the dining room .Hats off for their efforts.Would like to see Holland and Carnival follow this first class cruise line.Carnival is the worst in this regard and it may be the bubba mentality. On Holland this does not appear to be a problem. If the cruise line puts it in writing this is their policy and we should make an effort to follow. How do you follow the policy for dress code at your place of employment?

Allright,,,a woman after my own heart! I'll meet you at the dining room door,,,I'll be the "more mature dude",,,,the one with the freshly pressed formal T-Shirt on. As my dear old dad always said,,,,what the hell,,,, You only go around once,,enjoy life and don't be so uptight!
See you aboard,
Ken

Katlady - Nothing says "pure elegance" like pearls - perhaps even pink pearls with your pink tutu.

Now for the earrings, may I suggest something a little "different" - like feathers - I love feathers and they keep the flies away when you swing your head :o)

Now we want to see a photo!!!!!

TTFN Jennifer

Oh BTW - my Dh voted for the "uniform" - no surprise there old pervs are the worst pervs lol.

Have fun - it sounds like you always do.

Go for it, Katlady! You sound like a person who enjoys life and doesn't take things so seriously!!! It's all to short to be so stuffy and deadpan serious. Hey, it's a dress, right?? It ain't jeans!

Be sure to post some pics when you return!!

Thanks, for the wonderful support. Oh :o I like the idea of pearls I think they will look great. I have never posted on the photo gallery but I will figure it out and post some photos of formal night. Hazel but hubby liked the uniform to he wanted me to wear garter belts with it. I decided that look was tacky I wanted something elegant so I decided on the pink tutu. Thanks, Katlady

Hi Jean,
Yes, the whole thing was a joke and I wore a black cocktail dress. It was fun for me to see everyone's replies and who would beleive me.

The cruise was a lot of fun. Alaska is beauiful and the weather was wonderful a lot better then expected. I'm still trying to update the photo galley this is my first time using it. It's fun to do through because I get to re live the cruise and it helps with the post cruise blues.

Glad to hear you had a wonderful cruise, Ms. Katlady, and yes, the PCD is a true and terrible thing! Who is going to bring the dessert?? Make the dirty dishes disappear??? Entertain us with a show every night?? (I mean aside from the dogs chasing the cat thru the house)

Awwww, back to reality, but yes! The memories are wonderful....
