We have booked on this cruise from the UK, cannot wait, very excited about going through the Canal. Have spoken today to my travel agent about the price reduction, he is contacting Celebrity so hopefully they will reduce the price, we booked in November 2005 so I assume they will pass on the reduction. Went on the Century last year to the Meditteranean and had a wonderful time, hope Summit is going to be as good, but have read a couple of disappointing reviews on its trip to Hawai in April, are some people very picky or is Summit begining to look a bit shabby, anybody out there know anything.

That's a fantastic itinerary because you're essentially linking a seven-night Caribbean cruise with a seven-night "Mexican Rivieara" cruise with the passage through the ditch on Day Eight. I'm ready to do it again!

Celebrity Cruises maintains vessels in very good condition, so the whiners probably are being very picky. She did have a main thrust bearing fail last week, so she is operating on half her normal propulsion right now and she is heading to the yards to get it fixed when she completes her present voyage. Unrortunately, she has to go into drydock to replace the failed thrust bearing because it's located in a pod outside the hull.
We sailed the Summit March 26 through April 9, 2006, she is in fine shape.
As for reviews take them with a grain of salt.
If for some reason the seas are not calm people complain and it allows them to ruin a whole cruise.
Same for other PICKY complaints. I've seen people gripe about the smallest detail then tell everyone and exaggerate to the extent it becomes ridiculous.

I've also booked up for this cruise and I'm intrigued about the "price reduction" part of your comment. We are also travelling from the UK and booked this cruise last summer, almost 18 months prior to us sailing. If you could give me any info on the "price reduction" I very much appreciate it.
We were on Summit from April 9 thru April 23 and had a great cruise!!
The captain was more involved in some of the activities on board than any of the other cruises I have been on. John Howell the CD was great as well.
Yes, we had long lines during embarkation and we found out they were sanitizing the ship. I rather wait a little and have them sanitize when necessary that take a chance of spreading something like Norovirus.
We also got back later that scheduled, also creating some problems.
This can happend on any cruiseline and we always have a backup plan for our return flights, just in case.
We always make sure as well that we have plenty of time for our flight, ofcourse a little easier to do when you book your own flights, which we usually do.
Can't wait to get back on Summit this November 25th
First a correction we are booked on the 11th November cruise to Panama Canal;, had a senior moment there and confused the dates.
Our TA has contacted us and we will be given a reduction, but I am a bit confused as our TA said it was a seniors discount, and not the reduction that was on the web site, however, I am not complaining as we have got what we wanted, so I suggest that you contact your TA and ask them to talk to Celebrity as there was a definate reduction in the price on their web site and it was not under special offers. Good luck
