Is anyone very recently back from the Millennium? How is the odor problem?
I was on the Millie April 2 - 9 and we experienced terrible odors. We nicknamed our cabin "the outhouse". The hallways on several decks had terrible odors too.
I heard that they found a sock in the sewer lines shortly afterwards. I know this has been an ongoing problem, so want to hear if they have finally fixed the problem.
My friend and I are looking for a cruise for December, and I'm not eager to get on that ship again. We're considering the Mexican Riviera on the Mercury, but water and air temps keep us coming back to the Caribbean.
Can someone confirm whether this problem has been corrected? Thanks.

A sock in the sewer line certainly would account for an odor problem!

If you like the Caribbean, you probably also will like the Mexican Riviera. The ports are not islands, but they are quite different from one another. All of the ports of call are in the tropics, and they offer great beaches, snorkeling, swimming, and other watersports as well as diverse attractions ashore. The air might be on the cool side on the first day and the last day, when you are in transit to or from San Diego, but it's sometimes cool off southern Florida, too.
There were 9 of us on the April 2-9 Millie cruise and never heard a word about an odor problem. Where was your cabin located? We were anywhere from midshifts to aft.

Norm,
I wish the odor was only of a dirty sock!
Thanks for the overview of the Mex Riv. We'll keep that in mind. We're still not decided, but you're right about southern FL, it can be cool at times.
CruzNut,
We were on deck 9 midship. Odor was bad there as well as other areas.
Isn't ANYONE else out there back with a more recent report?
I was on deck 2 and it smelled really bad almost all the time. I can't see how other passengers did not smell the smell. I don't think I will ever cruise on that boat again. I sure hope somebody has some answers as to why that boat stinks.
Ok, who is paying off all CruiseMates posters to remain so silent about the stink on the Millennium?
I have appreciated the courteousness and demeanor of the posters here on this board as opposed to a different cruise board, so wanted to post my question here rather than there.
After not seeing much of any response here, I unwillingly went to the other board and saw much discussion on the topic.
This is definitely a problem, not something that I or others have sensationalized. I was on board, with a cabin on deck 9 mid-ship and we very frequently smelled the sewer odor on that deck from the forward staircase to mid-ship. We also encountered the odor on other decks as well as inside our cabin.
So really, is someone paying off the posters to remain silent? Is there really no feedback from cruisers that have returned from their Millennium cruise?
We sailed the Millie leaving 4/30 from FLL transatlantic to Barcelona.
We had a deck 8 cabin and we still could smell the odor stinky but not too much as we walked to the bow end going to the theater and upper decks.
It was not bad.
Had a wonderful cruise and highly recommend the Millie. She is a great 6 years ship.

Froggy - trust me, no one is getting paid by Celebrity or their parent company RCI to cover up problems on Millennium. Just haven't heard anything. But obviously I believe it is possible.
I guess I just wasn't too surprised because I have been on a lot of "stinky" ships, especially in the mornings when I guess most people "evacuate" and the stewards open all the cabin doors.
Sounds like this is a bit more of a problem, though.
