Are there any NEW cruise ships under construction, NOW, at Celebrity?
Yes -- two vessels of the Solstice class, to be named Solstice, scheduled to enter service in the fall of 2008, and Equinox, scheduled to enter service in the summer of 2009. Here are the specifications.
With all the new builds going on the Celebrity ship has the least amount of PAX on it.
They also cost the most to build per PAX.
These vessels are pretty consistent in size to Princess's Caribbean Princess class. They have about 250 fewer cabins, but probably have more real suites (not to be confused with the "minisuites" on the Caribbean Princess class, which really are just standard staterooms stretched a few feet to provide a seating area).

Norm.
And the Celebrity ship costs about $200 to $300 mil more than any of the others to build.

I really doubt that they are that much more expensive. OTOH, there is a premium for the first vessel of a new design because of the design costs. By contrast, Priness's Diamond Princess and Caribbean Princess classes are actually variations of the Grand Princess class, so the design costs are a LOT less.
