Cruise Decision - Infinity or Not

Dear fellow cruisers: We are working on cruise plans to Alaska in May 2007 and are considering a 14-day repo cruise on the Inifinity on May 7, 2007. Since my last two cruises have been on Celebrity (Summit & Constellation), I thought I would stick with Celebrity. We did a 14-day West Coast/Alaska cruise on the Summitt in 2005. I truly love Celebrity, though I have been tempted to just try another cruise line. However, I always change my mind! I would love to hear from those of you who have sailed recently on the Infinity to get your opinions. Since this ship is a bit older, is she showing a lot of wear; how's the service, food, etc. Thanks for your input!

We just came off the Infinity Alaskan cruise. It was a 12 night that left from San Francisco. (May 20-June 1st)

We have not been on any other of the Milli class ships so I cannot compare them as yet. We are scheduled to cruise on the Summit 2007.

But I can give you a little of our experience.

The ship is in fairly good condition. We did not notice any real wear so to speak. But we had heard she just recently came out of dry dock. But didn't see notice any evidence of anything NEW...or especially clean. But she does NOT look worn or old.

We did noticed that most of the windows throughout the ship were very dirty...NOW before you flame me...we noticed only because we had just come off a ship a month before that had CLEAN windows throughout the ship...this made a deep impression on us, so maybe we were just more aware of this on the Infinity. (and the Mercury too)

We had a CC cabin...nice size for a short cruise.

Service was EXCELLENT. The staff was very very nice in all the departments! Good service really helps make the cruise.

Now, the gym does look a little outdated, worn and on the small size.

Spa is nice...

Food is very very good.

From what I understand though...you cannot compare the Infinity to the
Constellation which is one of the TOP rated ships in her class by various travel and cruise magazines.

If you liked GTS Summit and GTS Constellation, you probably also will like GTS Infinity because the three ships are sisters (that is, built to the same plans). That said, the question is whether Celebrity is a good match for your tastes and your lifestyle. If Celebrity is a good match, stick with Celebrity because most of the other major lines probably won't be as good. If you felt like a fish out of water aboard GTS Summit and GTS Constellation, OTOH, a change is in order.
