Surprise Cruise

I am surprising a special person with a gift of a cruise ticket and am looking for a creative way to break the news to this person. One idea I had was to take him to dinner and have the waiter deliver his wine glass with a tiny toy ship floating in it. I want this to be like a treasure hunt where he gets clues here and there over a few days to add to the anticipation. Any interesting ideas afloat?

That is a great idea! How about mixing a CD with cruise type songs on it and give it to him as a hint?

The treasure hunt sounds good - the payoff the CD with the ticket.

Yep-

I put together a scavenger hunt with a "find the code and break the code" espionage theme. It had about 15 clues which ran him all over the place with the last clue waiting at the table where we had dinner reservations. It read...."order a martini, shaken not stirred.....ask the waiter for the green menu...." The green menu (actually a 3 ring binder I compiled) revealed the code which was 3566...the next page was our cruise reservation with cabin (you guessed it) 3566. And the rest of the binder contained copies of the deck plans, cruise reviews, etc.

You just have to keep things interesting, now don't you?
