Mercury Refurbished

I am set to sail on the Mercury next February. I understand it is going to be or has already been refurbished. Has this happened yet?

She's got a scheduled drydock mid-April 2007, a regular sort of drydock, not a full-on revitalization one like CENTURY

If that is the case is the ship nice? We are taking our good friends who have never cruises before. I want this to be a good experience for them. I have never been on this ship. Is she in nice condition?

Under normal conditions, Celebrity maintains its fleet very well; the ship is however 9 years old, and, specially if you look for them, there will be sign of wear'n'tear here 'n'there....but ceertainly not any different than your local restaurant opened 9 years ago, or your local transit vehicle put on the road 9 years ago.
The cruiseline's day to day maintenance is quite fastidious. The mechanical aspect of the maintenance is subject to very rigourous protocole.

Go ahead with the presumption this ship will be in very good shape and will provide you and your group with a very satisfying cruise.

The recent yard visit of MV Century was more than "just" a "full-on revitalization." The yard did major modification and reconstruction in several areas of the vessel that included addition of balconies to many existing cabins (which means replacing solid exterior bulkheads and fixed windows with sliding glass doors) on the Vista Deck and Panorama Deck, construction of a new specialty restaurant with its own galley, and construction of new cabins on the Sports Deck. The change also included the addition of a "duck tail" to the hull to provide additional bouyancy. This is far beyond the scope of a revitalization or a normal overhaul.
