Default Corkage fee up to $25 on Nov. 1

Celebrity is raising their corkage fee on Nov. 1 to $25.00. In their constant attempt to confuse the heck out of us, wines according to their new policy over the summer were forbidden except purchased through their program. Now they charge $25 on wines they tell us we can't bring on board.

If they would have some wines in the $15-20 range they would not have to charge this much Ther is no doubt that they want you to purchase wine from them and nowhere else.Hope they can do a thorough scan on every bag because this is where they will be placed in the future and they will need many more employees to accomplish this feat. This will not be easy as many know how to beat this problem.Am assuming that you can no longer bring wine on the ship in your carry on baggage as it will be taken from you and only will be allowed at meals with the above corckage charge?

On my last cruise (MV Galaxy to the Mexican Riviera last February), Celebrity's regular wine list did have several wines in the $15 to $20 range.

The mark ups on their wine is very high--really not worth it! they are really pushing the wine though-- even have wine auctions for wine they don't let you taste--what will the corkage fees apply to?

The corkage fees will apply to the wine you bring onboard and then bring to the dining room. Of course, you aren't supposed to be able to bring wine onboard! And, is it any surprise that people do bring wine on board and drink it in their cabin! This is one more thing that they can make a whole lot of extra money on.

Not being a wine drinker on the whole, it doesn't make a big difference to me. On the other hand, when they raised the cost of beer from $3.50 April of 2005 to $4.50 April of 2006 PLUS 15% tip - that was more than a little irritating. I will be on CruiseMates Sail of the Century and the 2 day following one and that will probably be the last one ... even though I will have reached the Select level and get the grand gift of 10 minutes of free internet (oh my gosh, it takes that long to sign on). Back to Princess with absolutely free internet when you're Platinum - that's the same level. And more reasonable drink prices. And, real refrigerators. And, fresh water pools. And, better service. And, friendlier crew. And equal if not better food.

Is $4.50 the price of a domestic beer?Even though we have 10 cruises on Celebrity we also will be trying princess in JAN on both the Star and the Carribbean. We have not been on this line since they bought out Sitmar I believe in the 70,s.Did notice that their alternative restaurants are much less than other lines charging. What do they charge for beer? Can not believe celebrity going to $25 corckage and beer to $4.50.

The $4.50 is for DOMESTIC beer!

When I was on the Caribbean Princess last November, the beer was $3.50. However, I sent myself a Bon Voyage package of 6 Miller Lite for $18.25 (no tip added).

They also had a 6 for 5 price onboard at $3.50 each plus tip = $20.12.

They wereall heart on there great pricing. We were on Holland where they had happy hr at thepool bar two for the price of one on all drinks from 5 to 7.Am not sure this waas continued but it should have been because noone is ordering and am sure pricing is a concern along with the age of most of the passengers.

Default Bringing beer/wine onboard

I've taken beer and wine onboard before, however after reading my documents I'm wondering if I should try.
Seems like their telling you they can ban you from boarding the ship and cancel your cruise.
Sailing on 12/10/06 on the Millennuim.
$ 4.50 a beer is pretty steep, geee I may have to go on the "wagon"

we sent ourselves a bon voyage bottle of wine for our next cruise on Royal carib --it's only 5 days so that & what the travel agent sends should suffice...silly how we all have to play these little games but no one likes to get ripped off! The mark up is too high to begin with & then the service charge----
