Some interesting Celebrity Cruise Line gossip _ LIVE
I am onboard the Century, along with multiple executives from Celebrity. This afternoon there was a Q & A session.
In my view one of the most delightful things I learned at today’s meeting is that the wandering acapella singing groups, which used to be a mainstay on Celebrity ships, will be returning to all Celebrity ships, and they’re going to begin including some other different roving entertainment. One new one will be wandering “close up magic acts, and even fortune tellers moving through the lounges.
You’ll have to wait for the full article to hear the rest of the gossip!!
Kuki, is Sustained one of the A Capella groups? They were on Galaxy in Feb of '05. We really enjoyed them on stage and in the Cova Cafe after the shows. I didn't know there were others, but it would be nice if they were on Mercury for the Jan. 29 cruise to the Mex. Riv.
(The bass is a total hottie. --besides being a good singer.)
Yes. IIRC, another was called "Sea Notes" -- each group had a different name. In some cases, Celebroty actually formed the groups by hiring individual singers. In other cases, the groups sang together -- often in competition -- before joining Celebrity.
Have enjoyed the roving groups to a point--hope they & the magic acts move on if your table or group is not interested.. Roving magicians were big where we live for sweet 16 parties & the like for awhile but some were quite annoying! We found we'd prefer to listen at a distance to the groups but felt obligated to be polite when they approached!
What other gossip did you hear--what abt Cirq--on or off?
hcat, the A Capella group, Sustained, did not rove around the dining room or come right up to anyone. They performed a couple of times on stage and afterward would do a 1/2 hr segment in the Cova Cafe and also at times when it wasn't a stage night for them in the theater. Sometimes they performed during dance band breaks in the dance lounge.
We've never seen singing or magic groups at our table. I was zeroing on the A Capella aspect, not realizing the scope of the roving of other groups.
I've sung in school/church choirs for most of the last 50 years and always enjoy harmony. (Altos Rule!) These guys were really good and added humor to their act.
