Default Need help on timing of disembarkkation & getting to airp

We need to book RT flights from TPA to YVR (any tips for low fares please) for our upcoming Celebrity Infinity cruise to Alaska, Aug 26, 2007. Please let us know if you knew whether or not we would have to go thru custom when the ship dock at 7am on Sunday, Sept 2nd.

Also, how much time should we alot from the time the ship dock (I believe at Ballantyne) to the time we can head to the airport to catch the flight (how far is the airport)? By the way, is it better to fly directly into YVR vs. to Seattle and find a transportation to the ship dock downtown Vancouver?

Thank you in advance for all you assistance!

Flying into and out of Seattle is generally going to be less expensive than flights to/from Vancouver.

If you're sailing from Vancouver, flying direct to Vancouver is naturally more convenient.

You do clear customs arriving back in Vancouver, but the process is quick and painless. It's about 20-30 minutes by taxi to the airport from the docks.

Kuki is right about flights to/from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) being somewhat cheaper than flights to/from Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and the cruise lines do operate transfers to and from both airports. The catch is that the transfers to/from Seattle take about four hours and the price generally will eat up most of what you'll save on air fare.

There is one additional nuance of which you should be aware. When flying to the United States from Vancouver, you will clear U. S. customs and immigration in the terminal building at Vancouver International Airport. This practice allows flights from Vancouver (and several other Canadian airports) to operate as domestic flights after they enter U. S. airspace.

Regarding scheduling of flights, have your travel agent call Celebrithy and ask about Celebrity's policy regarding (1) required time of arrival and (2) required time of departure for passengers using Celebrity's transfers. If you book flights that meet Celebrity's constraints, you will not have a problem at either end even if you elect to use taxis rather than the cruise line's transfers.

Norm.
