Response to Kuki's "Comparing Carnival and Celebrity&qu
I think his article and comparison of the two cruise lines is flawed from the start. Though he does compare the two cruise lines on a variety of area which are unaffected by the ship there were other factors that took away from the credibility of article.
The compared Carnival's Flagship The Carnival Freedom built in 2007 to Celebrity's Constellation built in 2004. I do a lot of scientific research and you always want to keep the controls constant. So the best measure would have been a comparison between Carnival Miracle (2004) and Constellation (2004). Then I would have liked to see how Carnival did in all aspects.
To really get a feeling for the two cruise lines maybe this review should be redone with a comparison of the Celebrity Solstice (2008) and Carnival Splendor (2008) as they both represent the "new" era of each cruise line.

I couldn't disagree more. The cruise experience has nothing whatsoever to do with the age of the ship. It's all about the service, the food, the entertianment, the ports of call, your dinner mates and the overall ambience. I think Kuki's review is very fair and unbiased-he simply compared various aspects of each ship so we fellow cruisers can make an informed choice on our next cruise. Isn't that what Cruise Mates is all about?

Sorry, but this was not scientific research to prove or disprove a hyposis. It was written to compare two cruise experiences on different lines. I stated from the get to that some people would view it as comparing apples to oranges.
Fact is though there are some changes in the course of 3 years, that time frame means very little in the life expectancy of a ship. And at the moment Constellation's design is the most current Celebrity has. Though, regardless of design and age, this was talking about what Celebrity and Carnival are selling as their respective cruise experiences at the moment.
I have to agree with Kuki and the poster above Kuki. I have only been on one Carnival cruise...started cruising again a few years later with Celebrity, and it was a difference of night and day.
Yes, two different lines, but the experience I had on Carnival with the food, shows, ports, ambience, etc. to ME were not comparative to Celebrity. It's not "bad", just not my taste. And yes, this is what the message boards are about.
I'm still a young cruiser, but enjoy the X and because we vote with our dollars, will be back for many more cruises on X!
I really enjoyed reading about his adventures. The pictures were great, as well. Do people really care that much about scientific analysis? I just liked looking at the different ships....
