Default Question re: spa

Looking ahead,,,,the Celebrity site tells you to book ahead on the spa if you want any of that,,,,
but there are no prices attached,,,that scares me!
How does one go about finding out how much that might set one back,,,any clue?

Well, personally, I think the prices charged are rather ridiculous but I live
in an area of the country where this type of pampering is the exception
rather than the norm so to my way of thinking - the prices were very high.
I would rather get my massages and manicures/pedicures at home
before leaving and spend my money on seeing the different sites and
a little shopping. However, the AQUA SPA and Thallossomy Pool (spelling)
are totally fantastic - went everyday - yes, I enjoy sitting outside in the
sun and such but the warm water and hydrojets were sooooo wonderful.
Plus there was no extra charge for the use. We were on the Summit
in Jan.2007 for a full transit of the Panama Canal from LA to FLL. Now
if I could just find a Celebrity ship that does South America and Cape
Horn - that will make my day.

Well, just got back from that last week on the Celebrity Infinity! Buenos Aries, Uraguay, Chile (with multiple stops along the way). I think it also does it in the reverse order. Unfortuantely, I think this is the last week of that route before repositioning to Alaska.

Cape Horn was great. Very interesting. One day I'm laying at the pool. Three days later I'm looking at glaciers and penquins. Super trip.

Default Spa heads up

PLEASE check very closely into what the service you'll be receiving in the spa actually is. I mean, sure a massage is a massage, but soem lines like to put fancy names on some of the services.

I'm not sure why they do it but I know my wife and I got some funky treatment that was supposed to "relax the muscles and ease the mind" and all that jazz and it wound up being nothing more than a fancy name for elecro-stim therapy that was anything but relaxing....for $185 each!

DMH, what ship will you be sailing? Have you tried calling Celebrity?

The Spa facilities offer pretty much the same treatments (on all the vessels) but the facilities themselves are different (rooms, layout, ambiance, etc). I think the specials they offer are really good, and the massages themselves are awesome, well worth the money. If you can, book a sweedish deep tissue massage or the hot rock, they are great!

You probably already know this, but if you book your Spa treatments for days the ship is in port, they can be much cheaper. Additionally, your daily Celebrity newspaper will offer Spa treatments which are "on sale". You should have plenty of time to book a package when you board. A lot of passengers head over to the Elemis Spa to book things, right away.

Another thing you may like (only the Millennium ships have this) is the Persian Garden. You can purchase a day pass or a pass for the entire cruise. There are semi-private , separate chambers with dry sauna, rainforest / scented showers, steam sauna, and even a scented steam sauna, with warmed tile benches, ice, great relaxing new age music and it's very peaceful. The Persian Garden is mostly quiet, as folks either don't know about it, or would rather not pay for it. I do know they only sell a limited number of these passes. It's very Zen like (for me) and worth the money, IMHO.

According to the FAQ's, it states that
Quote:
If you are interested in purchasing a portion of a package please contact the AquaSpa once onboard the vessel. Guests purchasing AquaSpa packages in advance must arrange their appointment times once onboard.
If you buy a package in advance, you are basically buying a credit. You still would need to make your reservation for your time once you are onboard.

They have so many different "specials" and packages/pricing once you are on board that I would strongly recommend waiting until you board the ship. You will see the daily specials in your daily caper.
