The second evening and the next to last evening (that is, the ninth evening on a ten-night cruise) are usually "formal" evenings unless the ship is in port late. The third "formal" evening probably will be about midway between, making the fifth and sixth evenings the most likely candidates, again unless the ship remains in port late both of those evenings.
The "informal" evenings also probably will be on days when the ship either is at sea or leaves port relatively early.
