I am cruising on the Summit in Feb 09.
I asked for a balcony and have been upgraded to a suite!!
It is a celebrity suite but no balcony - floor to ceiling windows instead.
Has anyone been on the Summit and can you tell me about your experience?
Not sure about the non-balcony suite, but we just got upgraded on Summit to CC with veranda on deck 8 from OV on lowest deck WITH a $900 price reduction. X must be scrambling to fill the ship. Lower deck room prices may be attractive to last minute bookers.
The brochure describes the Celebrity Suite:
Stateroom 467 sq. ft.
Features floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows; separate living room with dining and sitting area; two entertainment centers with plasma-screen TVs and VCRs; music center; Internet station; walk-in closet with vanity table; bath, including tub with whirlpool jets; glass-enclosed sitting area (connecting door to adjacent suite)
Seems like a lot of room for a cruise where you don't spend all your time there, but if it's a free upgrade--what the heck.
You should be able to do a virtual tour of the room on celebritycruises.com
This is the first time for me with a veranda, let alone CC. Hope I'm not doomed to always want it, lol
That's incredible..=) I was attracted to this post because the cruise I was looking at and about to reserve a stateroom for said "new, refurbished" Meaning renovated? It says Celebrity Summit, but the cruise I was about to book is going to Mediterranean. Barcelona to Venice. Any reviews on Celebrity or Summit ships going around the Mediterranean?
My cruise is Barcelona to Venice leaving June 3. Posts on my other cruising board have been favorable to Summit as far as recent cruises. DH and I sailed her on our first X cruise in Aug. '03 to Alaska. We liked her a lot then.
This time I am cruising with a new friend from my bereavement group. We both lost our husbands recently (mine last Aug. and hers last Oct) and both of us had cruised a lot before. I am thrilled to find a "cruise mate" who might want to do other cruises, too.
Last year I finally was able to talk my husband into booking 2 cruises ahead for the same calendar year, then thought I would have to cancel. My TA said to wait in case I found someone else to go. DH's sister went with me on Galaxy last month to the S. Carib. and now my new friend is going to the Med with me.
I have no qualms at all about sailing Summit again.
Thank you so much for replying, and as a quick aside, my mother and i have been travel buddies ever since my father passed away a few years ago so I totally understand you on that end. Anyway, thats really helpful, now I know not to have any reservations about booking on Summit for August 09. Thanks!
