I am booked on a cruise and like my cabin, but like everyone else, would love a larger one.
I see lots of sites that book cruises at the last minute for 1/2 the cost of what I would pay. Is there ways to upgrade our cabins if we booked through the cruise line for the lower cost?
If your cabin on your sailing, shows a lower price on the website...call the cruise line and ask for a charge credit, or onboard credit...make sure you are comparing apples to apples....for me, this is where my travel agent, is my advocate.

If so, what is the procedure.
thanks
I think it depends on what you mean by last minute. If you try to do that your current booking may run into problems with cancellation penalties or not be eligible to be cancelled without full loss of fare. You may try and upgrade at the pier as there are sometimes decent prices.
From what I understand, if you upgrade after boarding you will pay BROCHURE prices. This could be signifacently (sp?) more than you paid if you booked on the internet or through an agent and got a good deal.

guess that's what I was looking for... thought for some reason that cabins dropped in price once ship was sailed... Being a third time at sea, I guess I never thought to ask.

We have upgraded with the pier coordinator at check-in and paid substantially LESS than brochure price. We were booked in Cat 2B on the Summit for a 10-day Ultimate Caribbean for which we paid a Happy Hour rate. We upgraded to a Royal Suite for $1,000 total at the pier. We saved $5,000 per person over the rate listed online prior to the ship's departure. It was an amazing experience.
Everything depends on how full the ship is. The pier coordinator will have a sheet with available cabins and a set upgrade price for each category.[/i]
