Local Charleston radio reports nearly 1,000 have been sick on the first three cruises out of Charleston. Report also states CDC will hold ship for 4 days of intensive cleaning.. Mercury will arrive back in Charleston a day early after not stopping in Tortola.

Celebrity must have cleaned the ship top to bottom a few times.
Time to look outside the lines - the ship terminal area, airport, transport services or some other common area passangers would pass through.

From news reports, the area of Charleston has been hit pretty hard with Noro prior to the ship getting hit. They probably won't be able to solve it until it clears up in the area...

is this virus airborne?
I know someone went over this, but what is the main method of contamination with this outbreak?

It is generally passed by touching something...

Better late than never, I suppose! You'd think they would have done this a couple of weeks ago... .

niceguy514, it's generally accepted that it's caused by people not washing their hands throughly after using the toilet (fecal matter ). When they touch something, then you come along and touch it-yikes!

That's why the best precaution is washing your hands often (not OCD, though!) and well.

If you find that the buffet is no longer "self-serve" and the salt and pepper shakers are not on the buffet tables or dining room tables, you can "assume" that noro is onboard and take every precaution you can!

BTW, the noro virus shows up in many places where there are a lot of people, not just cruise ships. Nursing homes, schools, hotels, etc., all report noro, but "sick cruises" seem to get all the news attention .
