Default prebooking excursions

when you order excursions online prior to sailing, do you pay then or do they just charge your onboard account?

cruised many times, but never prebooked any activities. thanks!

Our experience on Princess is the excursions are charged to the ship board account. I've also found that prebooking excursions saves a few dollars - the prices are a bit more when booked onboard.

On Celebrity you pay for them immediately upon ordering them usually through a credit card. The advantage is once you get on board the excursion could be completely booked...

"dkjretired" is correct that you pay as soon as you hit the "reserve" button (unlike Princess). I will add two things; 1) I have never seen the prices change once on board, and 2) you can cancel and receive an OBC upto 24 hours prior to the tour's departure time.
