Hello Fellowcruisers,

We will be going to the above subject matter and I was wondering if anyone has visited Ernest Hemingway's home and if so, how far was the home from the dock?

Thank you

elf

Several blocks, there is a trolley(all day) you can buy tickets for that makes several stops of interest--Hemingway's home is very interesting the tour lasts about an hour--lots of cats.

Hello gardener46,

Thank you for your reply.

Just a couple more questions, please..

Are the tour's all day or just specific times and what is the admission charge?

We love cats. Can you pet them?

Thank you

Per their website, "Guided tours are ongoing daily," which is also what I remember from visiting a few years ago. General Admission is $12.

Don't remember about petting the cats. Although you will definitely see several of them (there are 60 on site), that doesn't mean they will come up to you for petting.

Don't know about his house but you can visit just about every bar he drank in since they all claim that distinction.

Also, if you are interested there is the Harry Truman summer home which was a nice tour...

The tours were on going but if you want to see all the stops(6 or 7) you will need to start in morning as most take at least an hour--Truman's summer White house was also very interesting.Like the last poster said you can pet if they come up to you.Make sure you eat a piece of lime pie--wonderful!!

Hello, elf! Many of the tours don't STOP anywhere! If you want to go anywhere specific, I'd suggest you hire a cab and do it on your own. We enjoyed our tour but we knew that we were just "lookie loo's"!

Check out this site: Our Cats - HEMINGWAY HOME & MUSEUM
for Hemingway info.
