I have read where several people have gotten free upgrades, and I was just wondering how they do it, or how to qualify for an upgrade. Can anyone help me. I will be sailing on the Equinox in a 2B Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Veranda

Upgrades are usually "given" when a guarantee cabin is booked. You book a category and you will be given a cabin in that category "or better".
It is also possible to receive an upgrade if the prices drop. If what you paid for your cabin is now the same price, or higher, as a higher category cabin you can call your TA and see if you can get the higher category cabin.
The best way to get an upgrade is to pay for it.
Take care and enjoy the cruise.

The chances of getting an upgrade are practically nil.. theymight try to UPSELL you to a more $$ cabin/suite. Although a friend was just upgraded from an outside cabin to a balcony by NCL..very unexpected, probably the ship was not sold out...
You can also ask your travel agent as your cruise approaches as to what an upgrade would cost. Sometimes, you can upgrade for less if your cruise is close and there are available cabins still un-sold, always worth a try.
Last year I was flabbergasted to find out at my final payment that we had been upgraded from an Ocean View to a Concierge Class veranda on the Summit Classical Med cruise. Unheard of on Celebrity! I didn't ask for it and still have no real idea why it happened. It might have been due to price drops as an above poster suggested. Also my Capt. Club tier had been upgraded.
The original OV room had been booked at $2299, then dropped to $1999, then 1699. We paid $1490 for the CC--an amazing deal! I loved it and it was the first time with a veranda in 10 cruises. However, I would never pay full price for it, which in the beginning was at least $3299. Back to steerage for me.
