Millenium cruise - questions

Could anyone confirm whether or not this is true...

We know alcohol should not be brought on board.... Clear.....
However, some one recently told us that we could bring 1-2 bottles of wine aboard at any port and have them in our cabin or corked at the table for a fee. Is the bringing on board part the truth?

Preparing for a wonderful trip

We have always taken 2 bottles of wine on board at the port of embarkation but not sure about bringing more on board when visiting a port. My guess would be no. Last year on Mercury DH bought a mickey of vodka in St. Kitts and they took it off him! It was returned the night before we disembarked.
