Default More Celebrity/Solstice Questions

I know it seems that I just spend all my idle time thinking up these Celebrity/Solstice questions and.......it's apparently true. So that being said, here are a few more.

1) On Solstice, can you access the bow/helipad area or is that crew only?

2) This is our first Celebrity cruise. We are Platinum Crown and Anchor on RCCL. Is there any crossover/credit/whatever you might call it between the two lines or their programs?

3) Any must see/worth seeing shows/entertainers on board in the main theater, lounges/other venues. I know it's a matter of opinion on some of this stuff but just curious as to what others have seen and recommend....provided it's still going on. We have gotten off ships in the past and then heard people tell us we should have seen this or that and we never even knew that it was available.

That's it.......for now. I have to go to bed and think up more questions. Thanks.

Occasionally they do allow people out towards the helipad, usually on special tours.

You will receive the equivalent Captains Club level on Celebrity. They do not combine the credits. IF you have 6 on RCL, you will have the same level. You have to either call or have your TA call the Captains Club and obtain a CC number. It should then be tied to your reservation on Celebrity...

I was not impressed with the entertainment, it was the weak part of the cruise..

Unhappy Entertainment on the soltice

Have to admit that is true.. the main entertainment on the Soltice except for the Cirque type show was an absolute disgrace.. I don't know if it was because it was a seven day cruise or not. Entertainment in the smaller venues especially near Michaels Club was top notch. Then again, we had a week when there were serious problems in the actual theatre and regular shows could not be put on.. I had never noticed or paid attention to the abilities of an E.D. until the Soltice and the one that was on the ship that week... John Granahan was a disaster. Thinking back I remember one named Alan King and King hands down was the only one who has ever stood out in my mind.

I don't know which is which but we docked right in front of the Sheraton Hotel with the small casino. Walked right up to old town...

Thanks, if we go to the same pier that should answer my question. The American Pier is across the harbor from where you docked. That is the pier that RCCL uses for their ships that are home ported in San Juan. We have done 4 cruises out of there. But from what I hear, regardless of wether or not it is occupied, any of the RCCL (and I heard Celebrity) ships that hit San Juan but just for the day, don't use it and go to the other side. Thanks for the tip.

We went to three ports and were the only ship in port at all three....

I think that's what we'll have. I looked at the cruise calendar and if it's correct, the only place we'll see another ship is Lauderdale.

And even in FLL we only had two other ships when we boarded and one when we debarked. Made things go very smooth especially being in the terminal built for Oasis leaves a lot of room.

I'm expecting that to be nice. that facility is huge. When we checked in for the innaugural on Oasis, it wasn't even one third filled and that was at noon so based on that, Solstice should be a breeze. While your still willing to answer questions, do you know if they take advanced reservations (either online before sailing or on board) for shows? We did that on Oasis and it was the first time I had seen that and that had me wondering if that might be something they were going to roll out on the rest of RCCL or Celebrity.

No, they do not take reservations for shows online or while on ship. They are not really needed that since unlike the Oasis, the theatre's capacity is inline with the ship's passenger capacity. The theatre can fill-up, so it is a good idea to get your seats 15-30 minutes early for the main shows.

No reservations needed, we usually sat near the back since the shows pretty much were so bad we left every night before they were over...

We only wanted to walk out if one show (a production show) during our Solstice cruise, but we were seated in the middle of a row. I will not walk out of a show under those conditions unless there is a personal problem/emergency (sickness for example) or it is really, really bad. I figure I can handle 45 minutes of bad....

We actually try to avoid production shows since they are by far the worse shows of a cruise. I am so sick of Broadway Show Nights. Who cares about hearing the same old songs from the 1800's.
