OK..sailed in Jan...Booked at, eh...11 AM the DAY before I sailed....yes the DAY before (on a train, via the CHAT function...don't ask....)
Got off train, got on plane to SJU. I "hated" that cruise so much the minute I got on the ship, that about 1 hour AFTER sailing, I was in the Future Cruise peeps' office booking a b2b....THEN decided that I REALLY HATED (lol) the ship a couple days later and booked another 2B...THUS i was on for 3 weeks!!!!

(i got pretty good prices-had a nice OV on deck 3....)
I loved it.....spoiled ROTTEN! The crew was so nice....couldn't do enough for you!! In fact on one turnaround, I mentioned I was going to the mall...came back with a pair of shoes for someone, and loads of pantyhose for the guest relations ladies!
I heard some wacky noise outside the cabin, had the deck housekeeping supervisor listen and about 20 minutes later it was fixed, never heard it again.
The food was great.....the bread was wonderful (i am a bread freak!) Loved the free ice cream.sorbet in the buffet...the red wine sorbet is divine!!! I am a little picky so sometimes i would ask for just a plain entree (eithout a sauce or cheese or whatever..) and this was always handled with a smile....
I had asked for Celeb Select dining at first and it really wasn't that great-my servers were lousy....so i changed. On 2 of the weeks, my 1st night servers were bad...BUT the maitre d took such great care of me, found me a wonderful table....and aside from 2 out of 21 nights, all was well.
The wine packages may seem pricey, but on one of them, there is a bottle that is about $65 bucks if you were to order it alone. I got a 3 bottle package for however much it was, and ordered that $65 bottle...they LOST money on me!!!! (i would never pay that much..ever, but i did my due diligence on the costs..and well...

)
The casino hostess was a doll, but she's on another ship now. You will see the officers all over...they have several activities when officers (not necessarily people with LOTS of stripes, but they did have some stripes) and guests compete together (for example, a free slot tournament) and it's a lot of fun....
I had toyed with that repo cruise....we shall see.....
You'll be spoiled!!! Not sure if you're entitled to the Capt's Club elite benefits, but the morning and afternoon events in Michaels are nice...the bartenders really get to know your likes...i intended to go through the entire menu (they offer about 10 different cocktails or so, plus some beer and wine..) but each night the one server had my Kir Royale all set on my table!! So....i never changed...and well, free AM mimosas are great! Straight OJ bugs my tummy, so I dilute it with bubbly!
(again, that's for the capt's club elite members...)
Turn around day was nice...they had a great sit down brunch for us (more free booze!)
The entertainment was good...the CD at the time, Keith Cox is probably the best one I've ever encountered...VERY low key with just the right amount of humor.....minimal announcements..
If there is a crew talent show..GO! Some of the crew were wonderful. The ass't CD at the time could compete with the best of them on American Idol.
Let's see....what else. The ship was VERY clean.....it's nice when you come back from port..they have a little tent set up with water and juice, plus cool towels......
Ahhh....it was wonderful! (did i say that already!!) I won't stop cruising Royal, but I would not hesitate to go on =X= again .....it's a matter of where, when and how much!
Enjoy!
