Default hotel in Miami

On our recent cruise, we stayed at the Embassy Suites by the airport in Miami. Nice hotel, but there was absolutely nothing around it for dinning and entertainment. Any suggestions for a nice hotel in Miami (not too pricey) with restuarants close by?

We always stay in what is termed the downtown area of Miami on Biscayne Blvd. It is a 5 minute ride to the cruise terminal. We use the Hilton, but the Mariott and a couple others are just around the corner and sit on the water looking across to the cruise ship terminals, and the Bayside Marketplace where there are many shops and restaurants facing the boat harbor with lots of outside seating. You can walk there from your hotel. There is an elevated tram, like a monorail, free, that loops around the downtown area. The area is walking distance to a large music and arts venue and the Miami Heat stadium. We have had many a pleasant stay watching the cruise ships sail in and out from our hotel room window.

The Hyatt Regency Miami is a good choice, too. It is only a few minutes from the Bayside Marketplace and just a quick dash to the boat. They have a good restaurant in the Hotel, but I suspect you want to escape the hotel for the evening.

If you have a rental car, that is a good area to be. The Epic across the way from the Hyatt looks good, but we have never stayed there.

Most of the time we just have the group at Cruise Offers 2014 take care of both our hotel and cruise plans. We just tell them what kinds of things we want around our hotel and they take care of it.

Try the Holiday Inn, port of Miami. You can get a room overlooking the port to watch your ship come in. Just walk across the road to the Bayside Marketplace, tons of restaurant, live music all set around a marina .
Bayside Marketplace - Outdoor Shopping Mall in Downtown Miami, Florida Featuring Top Dining & Entertainment From the airport we paid $24 for a taxi and in the morning we paid $8 over to the cruise terminal.
If you want 4* then the Intercontinental Hotel on Chopin place is also a nice choice, walk along a park for 5 minutes to the Bayside, but not sure I'd want to walk back through that park late at night.

I don't know if you are a user of Priceline, but we got the Intercontinental Chopin Place, a 4* for $90.... rack rate is $250+. If you bid downtown, 4*- it is the only 4* hotel down there....

Default Miami Hotel

There is a Holiday Inn across the street from Bayside. Not a great hotel but a great location. Price is not bad.
