Default Official- No more formal nights on Celebrity

Celebrity announced today there will no longer be formal nights on Celebrity ships starting in early Dec. They will be replaced with Chic nights, however jackets and ties are no longer required. I can't give you a link right now because it is on the other board and they will not allow it on this board.

Wasn't a fan of the rules as they were not enforced equally on all ships. It was on my third of fourth celebrity sailing the maitre d told me I couldn't go in without a jacket. I was very well dressed in a vest and tie. I was not a happy camper.

I started asking on the first night every cruise to see how the rules would apply this trip #dumb

I did a Google search on this and the ONLY place that says no ore formal on Celebrity is the other cruise forum. Not a thing from Celebrity.

It's all over Facebook and as Don said, they've sent out e:mails to people who have cruises booked in the next little while. It's Official.

I guess they figured out a new revenue stream to offset the losses from the photos on formal night - which I firmly think is the main motivation behind mass market lines still having formal nights. I'll be quite happy on my Celebrity cruise in Alaska next summer. I won't have to pack suits or sport coats.

Do any cruiselines really enforce the formal dress code?

My guess is they might lose some money as there are many who book specialty restaurants and do Aqua Class because they didn't have to dress up on formal nights. Curious if specialty prices which are very high will go down.

Default Should I bring sport coat?

My wife and I are Booked on The Constellation 9 nights November 28th. Our Captian's dinner will most likely be Nov 30th. Here is my 2 part question. First
will I need a sport coat or jacket to go to the Captain's party? 2nd question.
Coat required for dinner? I did get a e-mail from Celebrity saying no more jackets need starting December 1st 2015. Thanks Ed

I got the email yesterday. They are called "Chic" nights now. Apparently jeans are acceptable now.

Strictly speaking, the new policy is for cruises that depart starting on December 4, so any cruise that starts prior to December 4 would still be under the current policy for the length of that cruise. So, they could require a jacket for a dinner on November 30. But realistically, I'd be surprised if the ship's didn't already start letting things slide into the new policy.

My wife and I will be going on a RCI cruise in 24 days and we will not be taking any formal cloths either. We love formal nights and always dress up for them. This cruise we decided to do something different and do no formal nights. We are both very excited about this.

Wow, even jeans are now allowed...I am loving hearing this. I actually don't mind the dressing up, but it is just so much more to pack and with all the flying regulations, I much prefer packing lighter...

It's OK if they're Chic Jeans.

Personally, I'm happy that there are no longer formal and informal nights. Those days are long gone.

Take care,

I called Celebrity yesterday to find out really when they are going to
implement this since Dec 4th would be in the middle of our Cruise. I was told it is already been implemented. No suit or sport coat needed. Thanks Ed

I just looked at the website and you are correct. This is nice. Previously, only Celebrity and higher suites had access. There is also access to Luminae restaurant for all Sky Suite and higher guests.

Nice move by Celebrity.

Take care,
Mike
