Help! I have read that the pool water on the Sea Princess is salt water and I have read that it is clorinated regular water which is correct? Also are the pools open on embarkation day? Finally when do the pools close at night (I love to go for a swim right before bed)?
Marlis, Princess has all freshwater pools and they are always open. Not a good idea to swim late at night though. That's when the ship is really moving and the pools are difficult to swim in. I saw a woman swimming in one of Grand Princess' pools at about 9:00PM and she got pretty banged up. The swinging ship produced a current she couldn't swim against.
You may want to go into the hot tubs at night, they are also open, which they usually aren't on other cruise lines. It may be a little saver than swimming, like Carole just mentioned. Enjoy Sea Princess, truly a beautiful ship :-)
Yes, the pools will be open, don't forget to pack that sunscreen. If you plan on going to the pool when you enbark, you may want to pack your suit, etc in some carry-on luggage, since you may not see your suitcases right away and don't want to waste the "pool time". Have fun.
