My wife and I have been on 2 cruises so far and are preparing for our 3rd next week. We've been looking for some kind of souvenier to buy on every cruise to remember the ship by. For example, I wanted to collect models of each ship we've been on. Does anyone know if they make these and where you can get them? Or does anyone have any other ideas of a good way to keep a good memory of each ship. Since we are hooked on cruising, I have a feeling that we are going to be seeing a lot more ships in our lifetime.
If you find out where they sell models of the ships let me know also. For myself I take a lot of pictures and video of the ships I sail on. I also go to where there photo section is and sometimes you can find some really great pictures taken by the ships photograpers. They do not always have these pictures though. One of my favorite pictures from a ships photogropher is of the Sun Princess and the Pacific Princess side by side at night. I also collect a postcard of the cruise ships.
I always save the charge/key cards from all the cruises it not only reminds you of the ship it has the date on it and can be used if theere are any questions as to haw many cruises you have done with tht line in the past. My wife saves all the compasse's from the rcl ships and I scan them into the computer and put them with the cruise photo's on a cd so you can browse them and see who was the captain cd etc. My wife also tries to get magnets from all the ships also ( refrigerator is a mess). Well that's us I'm sure there are lots of other idea's out there.
My wife collects a mug and a refrigerator magnet from each ship and I collect one of those souvenier glasses, a post card and a $1 casino chip from each. I also have a straw hat with a pin from each ship we've been on, but I don't dare wear it!
Mary Lou, what a classic tip! The best I have found so far. Ever since reading it I've had mental pictures of you trying to stuff them into your luggage. Can't stop chuckling. Thanks for brightening my day. PS. Can you order online?
I do have a heck of a time convincing them to get in the garment bag......lol.
Glad you saw the humor in it....thought maybe it was in bad taste after posting it.
I amaze myself with the things that I post at 6:30 in the morning.....wonder who is controlling my brain waves at that time of day?
We started collecting Christmas ornaments on our honeymoon eight years ago. Every place we go, we try to find an ornament. There may not be one of the ship, but you should almost always be able to find an ornament from the "places" you go. They store easily and, once a year, you get to "re-live" all your fun past adventures.
They also are easy to pack and travel with ... as opposed to busboys and waiters!
We're going to have to either stop cruising or buy another refrigerator for all the magnets. Guess the refrigerator purchase wins....couldn't stop cruising anymore than I could stop breathing.
