Default FAVORITE PORT?

What is your favorite port and why? To date my favorite port is a toss up between
Antigua and St. John. Both for the same reasons. I love that neither is spoiled with much commercialism. We were able to get a real "feel" for the culture of both islands.
I would love to hear what you think.

That's an easy one. Sydney.

We came in just at sunrise. A few hardy souls were on the fantail looking at the first light hitting the Opera House and the Coathanger Bridge. The only sounds were the occasional "OMIGAWD" and the click-whirr of cameras.

In the Caribbean for sheer beauty of the port, I'd pick Curacao and Le Soufriere.

For in-port, Iles de Santes and Virgin Gorda.

My favorite ports are the cruiselines "private" islands, the best so far was Labadee, but will soon see what Princess cays is like. I also really enjoyed St. Johns, what a beautiful island!

For me it's a tossup between Rio de Janeiro and Capetown, both spectacular entries to wonderful cities, or they used to be anyway.

This one should probably be difficult because it's so subjective, BUT Pamda and I are right. It's Sydney!!!

I will say that the port I found most enjoyable was Barcelona. A wonderful city with great transportation, history and architecture. The two days we spent there while on the R2 were the best port days yet.

Take Care;

Surprisingly, I found Belize to have been my most enjoyable port of call, mainly due to the relative lack of tourists and the suprising amount of places to see and activities too partake in. A real mix of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean all thrown into one place. Also, unlike some ports, they WANT us there!!!

Of simple tastes, I loved Ketchikan, walking off the ship was like walking into the late 1800's (or what I imagined it to be)
Horse and buggy ride around town was great too

For simple beauty you just cannot beat Cooks Bay at Moorea in French Polynesia. To wake up and gaze out at that beautiful bay surrounded by those jaggard mountians is just breath-taking.

I have to agree with Pamda that Sydney is number 1, Hong Kong is also very impressive and a close number 2. ....

My favorite port was Bora Bora, in Tahitti. Absolutely the most beautiful place I have ever seen. A true paradise. If anyone has seen the film beach, that's about how magical this place was to me. If you ever get a chance to go there, do not pass it up, by far the best beaches I have ever seen.

Robo.......I agree with you! I thought I was given a glimpse of Heaven awakening in the morning in French Polynesia and stepping out on to our verandha aboard the Paul Gauguin in Cook's Bay. The scenery is breathtaking, magical, beautiful etc. etc. The nights were star studded.you could almost reach up and touch a star!!!!!!!! I would encourage all who love to cruise and love the islands of the Eastern & Western Caribbean
to explore the idea of a cruise in the South Pacific. MJ

Thank you for that description. We are going to Tahiti on the Ren R4 in Aug and now you have added to my excitement. We have a balcony cabin and can do exactly what you did. Thanks.
