Here it is mid-July and no cruises booked! Normally we would have one at the end of August and again in late January. My wife doesn't want to cruise!!! I don't know what to do and how to change her mind!
Any suggestions? She is bored with the all the usual suspects, and yet we don't have the time to travel across the world for the uncommon. She wants to go on land based trips...HORRORS!
If she truly wants "out of ordinary" get her to come on one our CruiseMates Group Cruises...
Sept we have the Test Your Sanity Cruise.. and then in Dec. the CruiseMates New Years Bash..
I can promise you these'll be far from "ordinary" ..
Have you looked into Lindblad Expeditions?
I have no idea what the shipboard accommodations are, but they reach unusual places like the Galapagos (sp?) Islands.
Also, check out Abercrombie & Kent.
I believe they offered a combination of land based tour and a cruise on Mandalay last year. I can't remember if it was Egypt or not. They also work in conjunction with Venice Simplon Orient Express. Maybe you could think of it as a "land cruise". They have packages called "a week away" if time is tight.
You can always agree to the land vacation. Let her do all the planning, book the rooms, price the meals, plan the itinerary, contact the tour agencies, call the airlines, rent the car and read the maps. If that doesn't cure her, book the cruise, club her over the head and go...she'll thank you when she comes to!
I get to cruise in less than 2 months, yay! Up to some cool country and away from this blasted heat. (Miami up to eastern Canada and New England on Royal Princess). In the meantime the low carb diet is working. 6 1/2 " off the hips and lots of other parts of me too. I'm MELTINGGGGG.
If you haven't been to Yellowstone or seen the coastal redwoods in California, there is nothing you can on a cruise to equal either one. And, if you haven't been to vegas recently, there is no resort with fantastic hotels equal to the new casinos on the strip. However, it is HOT HOT HOT there in the summer.
I get five weeks vacation and this year 3 of the five will be cruise related. In less than two months I will be joining Carole on the New England trip and I just can't wait. The other two weeks will be days here and there doing family stuff, going to Iowa to my sisters, helping the other sister move to Michigan, etc. Last year I was totally land locked due to a family situation and I nearly went crazy!!! I do like land trips but cruising is my favorite!
