Majahual/Xcaret

We are going to both Majahual and Cozumel on the Grand Princess. Really want to do chakanaab (sp) on Cozumel, but also want to go to xcaret. Having a difficult time getting answers to the following:

How close is Majahual to Playa Del Carmen via taxi?

Is it possible to take a taxi from Majahual to Playa Del Carmen and then take the tour (via Xcaret's office there) to Xcaret.

I'm guessing that Majahual/Playa Del Carmen are closer to Xcaret as the price is $60 from there (via Xcaret's website) vs $79 from Cozumel. But I don't understand if this is true, why doesn't Princess offer Xcaret as an excursion from Majahual?

Has anyone done this?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Majahual is a resort development near Costa Maya. Maybe they are using both names as the port.

There are a gazillion "travel agencies" in Playa del Carmen that will do an Xcaret tour for you. Price, around $40.

Understand that Cozumel is across the strait so you would have to take a ferry to Playa from Coz. It's about 45 minutes each way and not any kind of fun on a rough seas day.

If Costa Maya is anything like Calica (also known as "The Gravel Pit") taxis are per person, not per car.

I'll look into this and hope I can get some good answers. In the meantime, I hope people who have already been to Costa Maya can help.

Playa del Carmen is NOTHING like Costa Maya.

Thanks Pamda, the pictures of Xcaret make me want to go that much more. Please let me know if you find out anything about Majahual and if we can do Xcaret from there.

If there is not a shoreX from Costa Maya to Xcaret, I will FedEx you the keys to my virtual cubicle here at CruiseMates and you can have my job.

I'd venture that Xcaret is the #1 shoreX going on Western Carib itineraries.

I've answered my own question for anyone who's interested. Majahual is about 150 miles from Playa Del Carmen, Phew, what was I thinking..
