Borrowing from a thread on another board, Divetex mentioned that Walmart is muscling in on retail stores. I thought that they may as well move right into the cruise market. We'll need a McDonalds, a Ponderosa Steak House, TGIFridays and of course, a Hooters, Dunkin Donuts..... Dining room??? Waiters??? That'll be extra. Oh, BTW, bring your own mugs, plates and cutlery...or you can rent them.
You laugh, tounge in cheek. If you watch the trend in cruise ammenities you will find that we are headed towards A La Carte cruising. We will soon be paying extra for the dining room experience. The new elaborate buffets will be the standard fare, and the alternative resataurants will be just that, and alternative to the buffet.
pamda, my dealer's on vacation, so I'm doin' without. Yes, we could form a consortium. I'll leave it to you and Divetex to come up with the name of our newly formed cruise company...all others welcome to submit ideas. Oh, and pamda, you wouldn't mind, would you, dear, if I were President or CEO of the new gig?
cruzetime, you are so right. It won't be long, I'm afraid, that we'll be talking of the cruises of long ago (like last year) and how elaborate and all-inclusive they were.
I can see it now...MacDonald's buys out the bow, best spot on the ship ...Movies run by Cineplex in the small staterooms taken over in the bowels of the ship.....Outback doing the steak restaurant on the midship balcony....Crispy Creme concession at afternoon tea..........and of course, the Pepsi challlenge booth by the pool!! The new way ships still provide entertainment and power the ship without increasing the cost of the cruise!!
I can see it now.....the Baja deck becomes the "Motel 6 Deck" the Empress Deck becomes the "Wyndam Deck" back to multi class cruising and service.....and don't forget to stop bye the "Bank of America Casino" lol
