Just wondering when all my fellow cruisemates start their countdown clock for their next cruise?
Personally I start mine at 100 days, even though it has been usually booked for sometime. This year I booked a cruise for the Panama Canal for May 2002, last June. I'm trying my best NOT TO START the clock until 100 days. Boy it's tough not to do it.
I started my countdown clock Three Months before i got my documents. But, the Hold your breath kinda countdown started when the documents arrived. Ticket in hand YES YES Sept 22,2001 i will be headed for the Eastern Carb. on the CELEBRITY CENTURY I CAN"T WAIT !!!!!!!!!! We (MY two aunts and myself) have decided to go a day before the cruise and will be staying at the Ft. L. Hotel JUST in case the flight is delayed we don't want to miss that ship .
Like Divetex, I start it the second I book. I have no patience! It's like Christmas - the tree goes up the day after thanksgiving and the present start going under immediately. It's no fun waiting till the night before and then piling them under there. There is something to look at and anticipate.
Same with the cruise....book it,.....start the clock!
I am also with Divetex, I know from the minute I book how many days away my next cruise is. I need to have something planned to help me pass the time away at work, looking forward even if it's hundreds of days away seems to give purpose to even those tasks I'd rather not do. Now in all fairness I don't keep a day to day on my calendar until it's approx. 100 days away, and I try to plan activites to keep the anticipation going. We in the frigid North of Canada would be filmscreens suffering from sunburn if we didn't take 2-3 months of tanning time to prepare(at least thats what I tell myself), also the planning and shopping for cruise related needs be they new clothes, luggage, or toiletries. Somehow the longer you anticipate the event the better spent the money is!
Since this is our first cruise in many (too many) years, and I'm new to this board, I didn't know about the countdown clock when we booked our cruise back in March, but had I known about it, I probably would have started it upon booking. Now that I'm "in the know," we have 92 days left until our 11/23/01 Summit cruise! I love to see the hours and minutes tick away. I'm so excited about this cruise, I know I'll go nuts when the doc's arrive. I've already started "To Do" and "To Buy" lists, and have the packing lists ready to use when it's time. Am I over doing this?????? Well, if I am, at least I'm having fun!
Has soon has I Book. Then In Ernest when the Doc's arrive. 29 Days to go & I'm Half Packed Already. I must pack at least three times to work out the clothes that I'm taking. This morning I Pulled my Winter Jacket and pants out of storage. Alaska Might be a little chilly. Tux to Dry Clearners Next week etc.
I love this feeling of Christmas in September or any other time of the year that I cruise.
May the wind be at your back & the sun at your front. Happy Cruising
Carol - I'm exactly the same way, both with the cruise count-down clock and Christmas!
My countdown clock is on my screen saver at work. The only problem is, I can only count down to one event at a time. I can't do the count down on the next cruise that's booked until this one is over! I guess I can live with that!
Countdown clock says 21 days, 22 hours and 48 minutes...
I always start my countdown clock right after I book my cruise.

Do you have an actual countdown clock? I start my countdown as soon as I book, but I like the idea of some kind of device to actually act as a visual! Let me know, either on the board or through an e-mail.
