Default Silversea versus RCI, Celebrity or Princess

Hi,

If the itinerary were similar and the price were roughly the same, would you take a cruise on Silversea for seven days or one
on one of the other lines for 14 days? I know Silversea tours and wine are included, but with a bottle of wine each night and similar paid tours on the other ships with a balcony room, the cost would still be the about the same. At least that's the way it looks on the brochures we keep receiving.

I would do Silversea just for the experience - have been on Princess, Carnival, Celebrity and Premier - would like to see how the "other half" cruises!

If one cruise is 7 days and one is 14 days, how is the price roughly the same?

I'd do the 14 days. If I had to travel a long distance (Europe, Tahiti, etc.) that would be alot of traveling for a 7 day cruise.

I see it as comparing flying economy class as compared to first class on an airplane. Sure, you may have more room (on a airplane) but can it be that much better to justify the additional cost?

I'd take the 14 days, Paul. Class is class, but cruise time is more important to me.

IFI had already sailed on all the other "mainstream" cruise lines, and IF I had already been to all of the ports on the itinerary (there's gotta be more port stops with the 14 dayer), I would choose Silversea. Like Sailinglisa...just for the experience.

I've always wanted to try some of those upscale lines, just once, crystal, radisson, etc. I would go for it just to see if it is really that special. Some day I'll do it, down the road if I can save some extra money. Of course, I'll have to stop doing a main stream cruise or two to save up and that may never happen!
