The Mrs. and I just spent 4 days in Vancouver, and that was not enough. There are many things to see and do. But allow me to suggest 2 musts. Take an excursion on the BC ferries to Victoria Island to visit Victoria and the Burchard Gardens. We took the Land-Sea Tour. A small van will pick you up right at your hotel at 7:30 in the morning and drop you off at about 9:30pm. Its a full day for about 55 or 60 bucks, (I wasn't counting, and it was worth every penny).
The 2nd suggestion is just Stanley Park. We rented bicycles and rode around the seawall. Then we returned the bikes and walked back. Too much for one day. Astounding beauty.
OK, add on the trolley tour. Chinese food? Best I ever had, Toronto and NYC pale by comparison.
Get a guide from your local library. A little effort will pay big dividends.
Try the Seacruisechat.com board - they have a great listing of links for Vancouver & Alaska. Also Sealetter.com had a great article about sailing out of Vancouver and all there is to see there - it was written by Alan Walker. Both were very helpful to me.
