Default camcorder batteries

Yesterday we went out and bought a nice new camcorder with our tax refund. This was/is to take on our cruises this November and December. Now we are picking up information that the airport security is asking passengers to use the camcorder with battery attached at the security point and then taking the battery (like they are taking nail clippers etc.) Should we even bother to bring it with us? Anyone have any information on this? The only time we use the camcorder is on cruises as we enjoy watching the tapes in the winter. They bring back such good memories.

You're asked to activate the camcorder (or laptop computer, cellphone or other such gizmo) to assure security personnel that the item is indeed what it appears to be. Incendiary devices are triggered by such electronic devices, so be prepared to turn on anything of that nature. There should be no reason to confiscate any of it. Enjoy your cruises!

I emailed Delta & asked this question. They said that they have received no information concerning excluding camcorder batteries.
