Does anyone REALLY dress up for a sock hop? Last cruise (Galaxy), only the staff dressed 50's as I recall. If any passengers dressed up, I probably thought they were cruise staff!
I've seen a LOT of big haired women in poodle skirts on '50s-'60s nights. Easier for us guys...just a pair of jeans, a white tee shirt, white socks, and black loafers. Unfortunately, those decades show the same numbers as our ages now.
The 2 NCL Texaribbean cruises I went on had about 1/4 - 1/3 of the passengers make a stab at 50's dress. With capri pants (aka pedal pushers), a long filmy pink scarf, and a pink blouse I felt sort of "dressed", and it was so easy! I love "themed" parties!
OK, then, I'll do it. However, I don't think I'll look as apropos as Mermaid! Long blond hair in a ponytail works better than an "afro" for a 50's look! Unfortunately, I'll end up with the Annette Funicello version.
