Palindromes require that the numbers/letters are the same, read in either direction.

Thus, 02/02/02 is NOT a palindrome because, reversed, it's 20/20/20.

Try this:

A gooogle.com search on "palindromic years" is quite fascinating.

Give it a shot.

After a "bell" conversation with Pamda.. who insisted on making me thing about it, I've determined that my question is meaningless..

The year is 2002.. which is a pallendrome (reads the same backwards and forwards). So the question SHOULD have read... how often does that occur.. a palindrome year?

Kuki is nothing if not a good sport, even when discussing palindromes with someone half his size (whose team will WIN the water tug of war on the Let's Get Lei'd Cruise).

"Able was I ere I saw Elba" (Attributed to Napolean Bonaparte)

That's supposedly the longest palindrome in the English language. I don't know about Canadian.

The answer to Kuki's original question is 12 times per century.

Queeg poses a question. He graduated high school in an "upside down" year ... 1961. When is the next?

See.. Pam, as I told you on the phone.. every 110 years. Its just we weren't discussing the same thing <G>
And I think the same ratio may be applicable to the question.. how many times Team Pamda can win a tug of war from the Moosekateers.

And just to throw it out there.. I saw in the same article, a tribute to T. Roosevelt..
A man, a plan, a canal. Panama!

Regards,
Kuki.. or if u prefer ikuk

Pamda, "Able was I...." is far from the longest palindrome in English, but the longer the palindrome the less sense it tends to make, as in...

Do good? I? No! Evil anon I deliver. I maim nine more hero-men in Saginaw, sanitary sword a-tuck, Carol, I -- lo! -- rack, cut a drowsy rat in Aswan. I gas nine more hero-men in Miami. Reviled, I (Nona) live on. I do, O God!

Shorter - though still long - and more pointed is

A man, a plan, a cat, a ham, a yak, a yam, a hat, a canal--Panama!

The longest palindrom I know of is approximately 5,000 words and you can see it at

Dear Ikuk ...

Further research reveals the following:

<http://www.asktherick.com/Live%20Pages/issue5.htm>

And there is NO WAY in the wold that Team Mooskateer will EVER best Meat Admap in the water tug-of-war.

Your devoted groupie.

Pamda,
I volunteered my services to tem Ikuk in an earlier discussion, and Ikuk didn't jump to take me up on it. Perhaps because he was looking for big, strong people and I said I was big but not very strong? So if Ikuk doesn't speak up soon, I guess I'll default to Meat Admap. What do you say?

I say we are quickly learning why the Canadian dollar isn't worth <other word for much>.

Jennifer, you and MerMan are now my anchors. Jose is our official translator.

Now, please, is it fair that a guy who is 6'4" with weight to match should be so mean to the other team captain (5'1" and a hefty 115?).

He won't know what hit him. Especially with Jennifer on patrol !!!

Vamos a ganar !!!!
