"New RCI Houston Itinerary
Royal Caribbean International will reposition Splendour of the Seas to Houston. From November 11, 2002 through April 28, 2003, the ship will sail on 10- and 11-night Panama Canal voyages sailing round-trip from Houston. The ten-night cruises will visit Progresso, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Belize and Key West and the 11-night voyages will call at Puerto Limon, Panama canal, Cartagena and Grand Cayman."
That ship is the only other we have sailed on besides Carnival.
That was in 3/99 that we did a 10 day Southern Carribean.
We really enjoyed the ship, loved our balcony and the service
was great. Lucky people in Houston.
Now that's an interesting itinerary! This is a great idea to open up the Texas market more. Also, it's a much shorter flight for those of us on the West Coast. I just wish they would do that route in June.
I'm booked on this cruise for the April 28, 2003 sailing. Luckily I also have a cruise booked in Sept. 2002 aboard Carnival Celebration, since 2003 is a long way away! I'm so excited about there being more to choose from for cruising from Houston and/or Galveston. Since I no longer fly, this gives me a lot more choices. By the end of this year, there will be 5 ships departing Houston/Galveston.
I know of three ships cruising out of Galveston/Houston...Splendor, Rhapsody and Carnival's Celebration(I think). What are the other 2 ships? I've been on the new ships and I don't know if I want to go on an older ship. I guess I'm spoiled. But if I can save $200 on airfare I might try a ship out of Galveston.
Royal Olympic is begining year round 7 day cruises from Houston in the next month. I don't remember the itinerary, but it is a bit different than the other ships in this market due to the speed of the ship (28 knots). There will be a second Carnival ship sailing out of Galveston later this year.
