Favorite - Cozumel..beautiful...lots to see, and I swam with the dolphins.
Least favorite - St.Martin/Sint Maarten - Never will get off the ship again if this is a stop. Went all over BOTH sides of that island.
NOT impressed at all !!! Tried it a second time. Found a nice place to eat, then got back on the ship when I found everything else to be just the same as the first time! YUCK>
Favorite: Cozumel
Why? Diving and Palmeras margaritas
Least Favorite: Grand Cayman
Why? Mediocre diving on west end,Seven Mile Beach rocky below waterline, not much to do ashore unless you want to keep doing the stingrays. Been there, done that.
Livorno, Italy.. because it's the gateway to Florence! WHAT A CITY!!
least favorite is tough.. they all have something good about them.. maybe St Croix.. while very beautiful, serious poverty,and not much to do there other than visit the beer drinking pigs at the Dominio Club.
Favorite: Cozumel, and Key West (It's a tie, since I judge by how long I'm willing to stay off the ship, and it's been all day in both of these ports!
Least Favorite: San Juan......on Celebrity, it seems to be nothing more than a fuel stop. We got in there so late in the day, that there wasn't time to DO anything, so we just got off the ship to walk on solid ground, and walk over to the Hard Rock for collecter pins.
Take care,
Jaime
(Oh Carole! The Dolphin swim wasn't the highlight of Cozumel, as much as the Cab ride back to the ship! My knuckles are srtill white thinking about it!! What a ride!)
We have a number of most, and least, favorites:
Most favorites are:
Ocho Rios/ MoBay, Jamaica; love the people, rafting on the Martha Brae; sightseeing in the Blue Mountains;etc;
Cozumel for the various ruins on the mainland; shopping in Cozumel; visiting Chankanaab, and snorkeling;
Key West; no language problem; currency is right; etc;
St. Lucia for it's wonderful people and magnificent scenery.
Least favorites are:
Grand Cayman; once you've been there, you've seen it... been here, done that!
St Thomas; just too darn commercial, and ruined! take the ferry to St. John...
Nassua; 'nuff said!
Location: Wisconsin....about 100 miles south of the Frozen Tundra and 70 miles east of Camp Randall

Re: What is your favorite port
Favorite - Cozumel for all the reasons stated above - and Jaime, we were white knuckled on the ship waiting for you!! Remember we threatened to lay across the gangplank if you didn't get back in time? lol
Least favorite - Mazatlan - just a very industrial port and city - too far to the interesting things to do.
Favorite port: Venice-there is no place like it anywhere. A must see if you are interested in history or old famous places.
Least favorite: Tie between New York and Boston-is everyone in these two places rude...seems like it. (i know there are some nice people...why are they in such a minority?)
Favorites: Barbados, lots of stuff to do and see and St. Thomas, just love the island
Least Favorites: Martinique, expensive and hard to navigate if you don't speak french and San Juan, not into the rainforest thing so not much else to see.
Favorite port: St. John. It's absolutely beautiful. Loved our kayaking trip in Jamaica, though didn't really care for the barbed wire. The people were fabulous.
Least favorite: San Juan. What a waste. The Omaha Zoo has a better rain forest than that! (ha ha). Nothing to do at night. Wanted to see the "florescent, glowing" sea, but it was not an option due to port times.
Favorite places: Cook's Bay, Moorea (Tahiti) and Lake Tahoe, California.
As long as the subject is limited to the Caribbean.
Around the world? Hard to pick. Sydney. Hong Kong. St. Petersburg. Any of the Baltic ports. No med ports in the summer, for sure. No ports where it takes hours to get to the city you wish to visit. Better done on land.
We love both Coz and Playa.
Least favorite? Ocho Rios is right up there on the "ick" list. Puerta Caldera is not exactly a favorite either. Nassau could drop into the sea as far as I am concerned.
Oh wow. Now this is really hard! Only way I can do it is to list those I love and those I don't like with the rest being mostly in the middle.
Love: Moorea, all Tahitian Islands, Jamaica, Dominica, Cozumel, St Lucia, Grenada, Guadaloupe.
Dislike: Martinique, Key West, NASSAU!, San Juan, Panama
Everything else kinda falls in the middle somewhere, of course, we aren't done exploring yet!

I'm not as well-cruised as some of you, but far and away my favorite of the places I have been has to be San Juan, Puerto Rico. I always spend 2 nights there pre-cruise, and it's still not enough to walk around and see all I want to see. Jose and I are planning a 10 to 12 day land cruise to Puerto Rico in the near future so we can rent a car and do the whole island and see and do all we long to do.
I also didn't care much for Martinique, but I may not be being fair to it, because I was only there once, and didn't do any organized tours. But I, who love to meet and talk to new people, just didn't find anyone willing to put up with my college French and open up to me enough to feel like I had made a connection.
Just one cruise under my belt, so not many PORTS to choose from. Next cruise in 25 days!!!! Always thought cruising would be too confining, too crowded, so never tried it til last year. BOY!!! WERE WE WRONG!!!!!!
Loved Negril--Blooody Bay is beautiful, snorkeling at Rick's on the cliffs on a land cruise.
Loved Spain, lived there for 2 years in Sevilla, explored a lot. Too many great places!
Hated France, probably for the same reason some of y'all mentioned Martinique (the French people don't seem to be able to avoid being rude).
I have to post again on this thread, just to be fair. I only posted my absolute favorite port, but I do have another that I like almost as much: Victoria, BC.
I'm sure that, if I'm fortunate enough to continue to cruise, I'll have lots of new favorites to join Cozumel and Victoria at the top of my list. I'm still looking forward to ports like Moorea, Bora Bora, Papeete, Aukland, Sydney, and Bonaire. Of course, for a land cruise, there's always the area between Mts. Robson and Assiniboine.
Favorites, St. George Bermuda, St. John USVI, and Key West.
Least Favorites are Nassau (stinky parking lot for ships at the end of their cruises) and Martinique which has truly the most miserable and rude people in the Caribbean. Every joke I've ever heard about rude Martinique cab drivers is completely true. I think they take lessons and its a matter of pride. Such a pretty island it is a pity.
For those of you who cruise down here to the south of Africa - you'll find Cape Town to be a great city with friendly people, wonderful scenery, pristine beaches, sophisticated shopping at bargain prices and, of course, you'll also see magnificent Table Mountain.
