Default Swim w/ Dolpins & Sub ride

Hi

Really interested in swimming w/ the Dolpins & taking the Altantis Sub ride in Cozumel. Both are located in the Chankanaab Park. However, when I tried to book such excursions Princess is unable to do so because of their conflicting time schedule for each tour.

Wouldn't we be able to just taxi to the park & take the sub & do the swim on our own?

Looking for suggestions . . . also will we have enough time to do both? What else is there to do in the Chankanaab Park?

Sailing the Grand Princess 3/31 w/ 2 kids 4 & 13. My husband will stay w/ the 4 year during the dolpin swim for we do realize she is too young. (hopefully he will be able to get pictures! :-)

Thanks

You do not have to book these excursions through the ship - book them independently! go to www.dolphindiscovery.com and book your swim time; then find the Atlantis sub website (maybe someone has that, I don't) and book that too. I believe it is either a $8 or $10 dollar cab ride (for the whole cab, not per person) to the park and then there is a $10 per person admission fee to the park. There is also a small beach with some pretty good snorkeling at the park, there is a sea lion show in addition to the dolphin swim and encounter, there are paths to hike through the park, some small ruins to see, restraunts and shops.

Thanks for the info.

So . . . you have been here? How long of a taxi is the drive from the pier? Additionally, Should we plan on the day at the park . . . is there enough to do. Or is it too big to try & do everything there?

Do you think this area will entertain a 4 & 13 year? Thanks for your help

I've been to Chanakanab - it is about a 5 - 10 minute ride from the International pier to the park - add about 5 minutes to that if you are docked in downtown San Miguel. The park is big - but I have to admit that there is a lot to do there - there should be enough to keep you interested for hours! I have also done the dolphin swim and it was the experience of a lifetime! Your husband and older child will love it!

Hi

What kind of timing should we allow for the swim. And do you think we should do the sub first & then the swim?

Where is the snorkeling located in the park (close enough to the swim we could do that afterward?

Lastly, do they take pictures of you during the swim? Or can my husband who will be w/ our 4 year take pictures?

Thanks again

Laurie

I don't know where the sub is located or what's involved with it so I can't help with that. Your husband and youngest will be able to take pics of the whole swim - they cna actually walk out on the dock and stand above you while you are in the water - our group of 6 had more than that on the dock watching us and taking pics; there is a half hour classroom lesson where you learn a little about the dolphins and where you can touch them, etc. Then the swim portion is about 45 minutes. Dolphin Discovery takes pictures of the swim and they also make a video of the swim that you can buy. I think the swimming/snorkeling area is relatively close to the encounter/swim area.

Thanks for all of the great info.

What cruise line did you cruise to this area on? I just got finished calling our cruise line direct for the dolpin swim & they are booked. Therefore, have to book it separately for sure now. We are sailing the Grand Princess.

So count down now until we leave MI 3/29!

Thanks again
