Default How Many Photos?

How many photos did you take on the Get Lei'd Adventure?

For us it was:

Digital 636 (more if you count the ones that I erased)
35mm 72 (way down for me for such a long cruise usually 10-12 rolls)
underwater 18 (watch out SeaFan, I have proof you SNUBAED!...accepting ransom)

For a total of 726 photos ..... some VERY incriminating!

Also 2 hours of video tape.

How about you?

I'm not really sure, Mgram, but I think it's in the neighborhood of 800, counting the underwater shots and "losers." I've already deleted some of the "losers," and didn't count them, so I'll never really know for sure. I hope to get the dive pix back by Monday.

Isn't digital great?

Ok you "camera" experts,
We're in the process of looking at buying a digital camera, now with all those pics you guys took with the digital, what size flash cards do you use and are they enough?
Thinking of at least 128, and also using a regular 35MM camera, you think that will be enough? Camera will come with re-chargable batters and a re-charger, so definitely picking up another set of batteries, any other suggestions?

Donna, I filled up three 128MB flash cards, one 16MB card, and one 8MB card in 17 days. I think I'll buy one more 128MB card. That should take care of any cruise I ever go on.....except, of course, for my dive pix, which probably on't ever be digital due to cost.

In this order I filled a 32, 64 and used about 1/3 of a 128. I think I like the idea of several 32 or 64 cards because if something happens to a larger card, you look all the shots on it. The only reason that I have a 128 is that it came in the camera deal that I got. I tend to be overly cautious about losing pics and film.....I guard them with my life....so I just may be an alarmest. However, I do know a couple of people that have had cards go bad and lose photos.

All you guys talk about cards for your digital. 8, 16, 32, 68, 128. Well I dont have that to worry about. I got a Casio OV3000EX which has an IBM Hard Drive in it. I can put it on low resolution and can get as many as 1500 images on it. I use it on low but put it on fine that way I get 942 images. So it is no worry for me to worry about runing out of space. Right now it is empty waiting to go to Peru and Galapagos for 17 days.

I agree with Pat about having more smaller cards. I had a 128 mb card crash on me a few weeks ago. Luckily I only had a few shots of the grandkids on it that I hadn't uploaded yet. I would have been very upse if I had a full card of cruise photos! I went to newegg.com and purchased two 64 mb cards cheaper then the price of one at Best Buys. The 128 mb card wasn't lost, it just had to be re-formatted for some reason. So I still have two 128mb cards and the 8 mb that came with the camera. When we go to Hawaii I will start with the smaller cards before filling up the two 128s.

Just don't forget....film doesn't like xrays, and digitals don't like magnets. Take care going through security, both at airports and boarding your ship.

Donna,
On our last trip to Alaska (3 days land-cruise and 7 at sea) we took our regular camcorder (which was hardly used) and our digital camera with one 128mb, two 16mb, and the original 8mb and it seemed to be enough. I'd really recommend three sets of rechargable batteries. One set in the camera and carry an extra "just in case". The third set can be in the charger in your stateroom/hotel room. I rotated every time we went out to make sure the batteries were fresh. If we had been on a group shingdig, we probably would have wanted more flash cards - but for our second trip to Alaska, it seemed to be enough.

SHAR

Although we're just doing the cruise part, I think we'll definitely get a 128 flash card and may-be more :-)

Donna,
I was able to get real good deals on e-bay for the cards - but you don't have much time left (before your ALASKA CRUISE) to go shopping :o)

Donna - Sony has a digital camera with a CD which allows umpteen pix so you wouldn't have to carry so many flash cards.

Don't know how it rates, but it is a way to go. I have a Sony that uses floppies that I got in 1999, and I'm quite happy with it. Also takes 1 minute videos.

I'd do a search and check on recommendations ... maybe CNet or PCWorld.
