After agonizing since March over whether or not we were going to book another cruise, we DID! Those of you who NEED one to look forward to (even if it is 9 mos. away!), know what I mean. We have a high school senior who was balking at first & wanted to go to one of the big spring break beaches instead, but finally came around. This will be our first time on one of the Voyager class ships & first time w/a balcony (though I'm still not convinced I want to spend so doggone much extra money for a small balcony I doubt we'll spend much time on it on a ship w/so much to do!). Anyway, now I can start on the first part of our cruise: anticipation.
Me, too! After just getting home from the "Lei'd" cruise, I want to check RCI's new class of ships, not quite as big as the Voyager/Explorer, etc. I'm doing the Billiance of the Seas in March so that is 9 months away also!!! Sue
Jose and I had our first balcony on the Let's Get Lei'd cruise. While it was wonderful, and we'll definitely book another one, this cruise turned out to be less than the ideal situation for enjoying it to its fullest. Actually, we have a balcony cabin booked for our Ft. Lauderdale to San Francisco Coral Princess cruise next spring.
During the Hawaii days, we were just much too busy doing Hawaii to sit out there any time at all. We did spend some time out there in the afternoons as the ship left the ports, but we never once sat out there and had a leisurely breakfast, as we were much too busy rushing to get off the ship.
During the sea days, it was too darn cold and windy to spend any time out there! Oh we would go out and stand at the rail for a few minutes at a time and contemplate the horizon, smell the fresh salt air, but we couldn't just go sit out there. It was mainly the wind that made it unattractive. Consequently, we never did have one of our relaxing room service breakfasts on the balcony. We wanted our hot coffee hot!
I think this cruise was just a fluke as far as not being able to enjoy the balcony. We're really looking forward to it next time.
Re: Re: Got my "fix" - we're booked for the next o
It's nice to share the excitement w/others like myself. Well, I have my hopes up that we WILL enjoy the balcony. I've read so many things from people who have. But from past experience, I know we aren't the type to sit around out there for long! We are just too hyper. But I will admit, any other time we are near water & a balcony (a beach, lake condo, etc.) I am on it whenever I'm not IN the water! Even in good weather. Very late at night for a few min. before bed I'll be out there. Then perhaps in my robe before dressing for dinner. Or after showering as we are leaving a port. For one thing, those room service breakfasts aren't going to do it for me. And I like to people watch & look out the windows up in the RCCL buffet area. On the other hand, I'm afraid what if we DO like it? I'm generally scraping up all I can just to afford an INSIDE cabin, which has been fine w/us in the past.
