Default Your Favorite Thing at CM.. Your Best Suggestion for CM?

What is your favorite feature at CM ? (Feature articles? Port of Call articles? Favorite message board folder? Bargain Finder? )

What suggestion would you like to offer which you feel would improve the site?

What a hard question! First thing that comes to my mind is the friendly people that contribute here.
Then the design of the web site. It seems pretty easy for novice computer users. (except figuring out how to use gifs on message board)
All of the information. If it's not already accessible somewhere on this site, it seems like someone from CM will find an answer for you.
I like to get the different view points on things too.
They say that laughter is good for the soul, and so often you folks make me laugh with your quick comebacks and humor. I know there are many things I can't think of right now, but I'm sure others will come up with. Phyll

The friendliness of the the staff and CM's is very comforting. Before we went on our first cruise, I studied this site for months and asked lots of questions. The result was our first cruise went off without a problem or confusion. There were no surprises.

Wish there was spell check on the posting boards.

Favorite are all the positive and family style here on CruiseMates.

Add under "Practicle Advice" a heading .. Cruise Cuisine. Where posters can place recipies from cruises, appetizers, main dish, salads, specialty drinks and desserts.

I do not like the chat board for the cruise ship. Not good for following a thread. It is not like this one.

Wish that Cruisemates cruises were planned a year or more in advance. I'd like to go but usually I've already got something booked by the time you announce. For example,
What do you have going for May/June 2003 and Oct/Nov2003? We will probably have these dates booked by the end of the summer.
Have you ever thought of chartering a Windjammer ship for a 100% Cruisemates only cruise?

Stargazer... on other message board folders... click on "Flat View" and they'll show just like Chit Chat board does.

I personally find it easier to follow threads in threaded view... just click on the responses I havent read yet, as opposed to scrolling through the entire thread each time. But we do have the choice available.

Bill.. the cruise line's company line has always been book early for the best price, and possibly this used to be true.

The past couple of years however, the "deals" seem to be coming out closer to sailing date. YES, the agents will try and guarantee the price reductions as they occur, but it seems hard to choose cruises, when initial pricing a year out is so high compared to cruises occurring sooner.

I am currently working on a couple of different cruises now for 2003, and hope to be adding shortly (once the shopping and homework are done). Hope we find one that you wont be able to resist joining soon!!

The very first feature I turn to each day is "Contests & Games" (I enjoy testing my cruise knowledge). I also like the way everything is categorized here so that you can read about the things you are most interested in.

I can't even come up with a suggestion! Best organized, easiest to figure out, let alone the friendliest, nicest people who welcome everyone with open arms! You gotta love this group! Susie

You're right antlerhead. I just booked a cruise on Sovereign today for Sept. 1 because the price had dropped to the level I was pleased with. Had been contemplating for several months my next cruise sometime in the fall but never booked because I felt like the prices were higher than I had been able to get in the past. Now that we're getting closer to sailing date the price has dropped to "my" price. Don't have the same options for cabins as I would by booking a year ago but for us any outside cabin will do.

Regards,
Thomas

I love the new friends I have made here on the Chit Chat for Cruisers. This is my favorite part of the site. I also love the magazine format of the site. That's what brought me here in the first place. I'd say I was a user of the website for a year or more before I found the message boards. I had never been on a message board before, didn't even know what it meant, and, consequently, visited this site regularly for over a year without even clicking on the boards. Well..........as you all know, the rest is history, and I love the family I have found here. Thanks to all who make CruiseMates what it is: not only the staff, but all the posters who share of themselves and their knowledge.

Carole, Mgram and Thomas, the go to the top button is being programmed in as you have requested. This is what we want to know, how to make things better and more interesting for all. I am also working on changes to the chat room as to the times, days and other things that seem like they may be an improvement.

Easily, hands-down, the two features I use the most are the message boards (for sharing and asking) and the member reviews. Both have been so helpful.

Kuki,

I think it would add to the ship reviews if the reviewer had to mention how many cruises they had been on. I don't think a review of a ship by a first timer is a good representation of the ship. After all, without the experience of several cruises the first timer is always going to be impressed.

Thomas

Best are the chat room and feature articles. What needs improvement are the feature articles (some of which are old and reused and don't have "as of dates") and the use of graphics on message boards (this string is already at 170k which is terrible to download on a dial up)
