I Llike a little of both. I really enjoed the Sea days on the Sea Princess I have not been on a cruis ore then 7 days. And am looking forward in a longer cruise. 7 DAYS goes too fast for me.

I'm 50/50. I like the ship AND the ports. Can never get enough of either.

I like the "ship experience" best - so I'm for MORE sea days. It is always interesting
to visit new ports, but cruises are the most relaxing when not rushing to get on
and off the ship.

Sea Days!!!!!!!!!! Cruises to nowhere!!!!!!!! My ideas of Heaven. We frequently do not even get off the ship in port. Make a quick run to my favorite stores, then back onboard. The ship is really great when in port, you have it all to yourself almost. If only I could afford one of those new apartments year round, oh YES! The five days of sea on the "Get Lei'd" cruise passed all too quickly, actually the entire cruise passed too quickly.

I'm for sea days ... been to so many ports in the past, it's just a quick stop to places I've liked in port. And, prefer port days to at least be separated by one sea day. These port days one after another are a bit much.

The key to a cruise is the mix in my oppinion. Love them both. But it is great seeing a place you have never seen before.

So if I am going somewhere for the first time I prefer ports, if not I prefer sea days.

On ships like the Oasis and the Allure, I am definitely a ship person.

We met a couple that was doing their 100th. cruise with Celebrity and they had 40 other cruises on different lines.
They never got off the ship anymore because they had been to all the ports several times.

Our friends who stay aboard ship these days do so because they too have taken a lot of cruises and have been repeating the designated ports .

I never feel trapped on sea days and enjoyed the 5 days it took to cross the ocean from Florida to Portugal. But I do love port days more. I'm action kind of person on vacation. I want to see and do everything. Experience new cultures and try new things. Like the helmet dive in Mexico or riding in a dog sled in Alaska or seeing the Vatican in Rome.

Not that I don't get action on sea days, but sadly my hubby keeps wanting to leave the cabin. So I can get no satisfaction!!! I try and I try and I try but I can't get no no no hey hey hey that's what I say.

Absolutely, the ship is the destination for me, at least on ALL Caribbean cruises. I almost NEVER leave the ship on those cruises anymore.

I am a port person as I love seeing and visiting different places. I do love at least 1-2 sea days though on the return to home port for the R&R it gives me!

Default Port person

I love exploring off the ship. There is always new and different things to see and do at each stop. From water activities to shopping or drinking till you're green, whatever tickles your fancy. I've been to Cozumel twice and there is always tons of things to do. Never can get enough! My husband and I love snorkeling and there is plenty of that in Mexico. We love trying new cuisine also. Cant wait to go cruising again!

Interesting this thread is seeing a second resurrection.

I do enjoy my sea days but always get off to explore a port. Last trip we didn't spend much time in St. Vincent because I had a mast to climb.

The original question was ( are you a Port person? )

I do enjoy a glass of Port every now and then.

We always get off the ship even if we've been to those ports before. So I guess while we're in port we are port persons and while we are on board we are ship persons. We like both.

What a great question!
I like both actually, and have my favourite ports (Grand Turk, and any of the private islands owned by cruiselines).
Sometimes, if I've been to a port many times (St. Thomas, St, Maarten) I prefer to stay on board and enjoy some quiet time by the pool. Other times, I love to get off and enjoy a beach or catamaran excursion with snorkeling. I do NOT do the shopping thing.

I never go into port for the purpose of shopping, BUT, if I see something I like, well, then, that is a different story. :-)

I like both. If the port is one I like and I have an excursion I get off the ship but if it is one I do not care for like St Maarten I stay on board.

We're mostly ship people, but in new or interesting (Alaska comes to mind) port's we may do an excursion or just explore the port area (most Caribbean ports).
