Think it's clear we all like to visit different ports of call, but...
as the "Get Lei'd" cruise made its way from Hawaii to Vancouver, ending with 5 sea days, I was talking to one of our group, and he said he couldn't wait to see land again. Felt as though he were "jailed" and couldn't escape.
I, on the other hand, was wishing we could take an extra few days to get to Vancouver. So it got me to wondering... which "characteristic" is the most prevalent.
Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
I LOVE days at sea, but I LOVE to be IN the sea, so ports are very important also.
The 5 port days in a row, after 3 days on Oahu, on the Get Lei'd cruise were quite tiring. I could of used a sea day in between each port stop. Darn those volcanoes for not spacing themselves out properly!
Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
I am a SHIP person. Last month I stayed on the ship at Cozumel while my husband and friend went on an excursion.. I often do that when it is a port that is crowded and that I have visited several times. The most restful days on board are when everyone is ashore and I have the solarium and dining room to myself!!! I can rest up to party on the sea days!
I'm a PORT person. While I enjoy the sea days part of the fun of crusing is visiting all the different places. 2 port days followed by a sea day is about the right ratio for me.
Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
Definitely PORT. I was extremely bored much of the time between Hilo and Pacific coast landfall. I agree with DougH. I like the ability to choose whether to stay aboard or go ashore. I do enjoy sea days, but please, no more than two in a row.
Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
For me its definitely ports, with one or two "sea" days thrown in there. I too feel after just 2 sea days together the need to hit dry land, just have to see new sights :-)
Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
Port person here. A ship is just a way to get from one to another and I don't have to unpack.
Balancing, I do love at-sea days. I think the most relaxing cruise I have ever done was the trans-Atlantic on R IV. Then it got crazed with port-intensity.
Best cruise ever was in the PacRim where the cruise line balanced a port day with an at-sea day even if the ship did have to stooge around out at sea.
Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
While i do love some sea days mixed in, I am definately a port person. I love meeting and experiancing new cultures and locations. I really could care less about shopping even though Mrs Robo does love it so. I am happy with exploring and meeting the locals.

Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
I am a very lucky person because Chuck loves the sea days as much as I do. Ports are for calling the office and playing with the camera. Cannot wait til November for the Infinity canal cruise with only four ports out of 14 days. Our idea of heaven. Slight possibility of golf on Cabo if the casino doesn't eat all my money before we get there. But there is one exception to the sea day preference and that is in Europe.

I love the sea days ....... the 5 in a row on the Get Lei'd cruise just whizzed by way tooooo fast for me! I also love the ports, but only with plenty of sea days mixed in.
Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
I enjoy a mixture of both but truly detest three or more port days in a row! talk about exhaustation! i thought this was supposed to be a vacation! But on the other hand if i have at least two at sea days after the port intensive part of my cruise to chill out and relax then i am fine. sea days make me feel really privileged to be alive and be cruising!

Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
I'm a 50/50 cruiser, as long as there are sea days between each port. But...I'd opt for more sea days, rather than doing the "if it's Tuesday it must be ???"
Capt Ron is a total sea person and could care less about getting off the ship in port.
Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
Hi, I love being on the sea. the ports of call are just a bonus. I like doing whatever and getting back on the ship. I feel like it is home and is safe. Char
Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
I love those sea days and they seem to whiz by way too quickly! Ports are good, too but 4 or 5 in a row with no sea day is too intense! My favorite cruise was a repositioning panama canal one with 5 see something days and 8 sea days but the see something days were scattered! Sue
Re: Poll... Are u a Port person, or a ship Person?
I'm definitely a port person. My first 2 cruises were each 7 days with 6 ports! I was very worried that the 5 sea days on the Let's Get Lei'd cruise would drive me over the edge. Not so! There was so much going on with our crazy group that I needed another 5 days just to rest up. And I agree with the other Lei'd people that the pre-cruise time in Oahu and then 6 port days in a row wore us out. We were more than ready for the sea days. But, in general, I prefer a ratio of 2 or 3 port days to each sea day.
