Hi! I'm a wanna-be first-time cruiser hoping to cruise early next year and just wanted to know what everyone thought about food onboard various ships. Hopefully, your answers will push me over the edge and make me book soon!!!
Food is not a top priority for me. We cruise to get away. There is good and bad food at restaurants and will likely be on ships too.
Just book a cruise for the time away from the everyday humdrum and boredom.
You will love it as long as your expectations are not over the edge.
Celebrity Galaxy has been my latest choice for two years. Princess Golden a close second. Galaxy for their wonderful pastries and sweets, especially at the 4:00 Tea. Golden for their marvelous Breakfast Buffet.
If I were choosing based solely on food, Celebrity would have to be my choice. But I have never gone hungry on any ship. Hope you decide real soon cause once you go on a cruise you will be hooked for life.
Re: Re: If you could choose one ship based on food...
Thanks for the advice! I'm really looking forward to getting away soon. I definitely won't be choosing by who has the best food but I'll be looking for who has the best of everything all around. I'm sure you all will be hearing alot from me in the future. I'll be looking for lots of advice and will have lots of questions!
This was an easy one. Best food on any ship for me - WINDSTAR, hands down.
Best piece of beef I've ever eaten was on the "Windsong". If you got a knife NEAR it, it would cut itself! (The chef said it was from Colorado) Best escargot, "Wind Star". Best smoked salmon (from Norway) w/ capers & onions, "Windstar" again.
Overall, though, the best food on any ship (non-luxury line) was on Cape Canaveral Cruise Line's only ship, the
SS Dolphin VI. They went out of business two years ago. How I miss her! She was not much to look at, but the food was incredible. It's the main reason I sailed on her 8 times.
