Default And the Lava Flows On

Those of you "Get Lei'd cruisers" who either flew over or drove to the end of the Chain of Craters Highway, on the Big Island, might be interested to know that the Mothers Day Flow, that started flowing the day before we sailed from Honolulu, is now within a few hundred yards of the end of the road. See map below.

Here's what it looks like from up close.

We were a month too early.

Darn it all! That just adds to the reasons to return one day......I'm thinking fly there, spend a week on the islands and then cruise home...sounds like a good plan to me!

Look at the yellow on the chart. Helen and I were there and watched it flow into the Ocean. Amazing. Watched it from the ground, air and sea. Was on the Pacific Princess from off shore at night. Got up at 2 AM to take a look. Impressive!

Thanks Tom for showing the chart. Educational for sure.
