The Calgary Stampede is winding down to its last 3 days... Here's a shot of the infamous St. Louis Hotel (built @1908. The pic was taken about 9 AM this morning... the people are waiting for the bar to open.
Stampede is held for 10 days, beginning the first Friday in July every year. If you're planning a Alaska cruise for next summer, and want added fun. Come to Calgary for the Stampede, and then take the Rocky Mountaineer Railroad to Vancouver.
The building in the background of this picture is Calgary's City Hall.
By the way.. if anyone saw the movie SuperMan 3, way back, there's a scene in that movie which was shot in and around our hotel.
For the interior pics, they removed the big picture window on the right, and shot into our coffee shop, plus they shot some exterior scenes.
If I recall the entire sequence was about 4 or 5 minutes in the movie. They spent 4 days shooting it.
Thanks for the photos Kuki. Now I'll know where to hunt you down.
The movie thing must have been very interesting for your son. There are quite a few movies shot in this area too. Seems as if Texas can portray many different areas of the countryside. My son also is very interested in film, and has had the opportunity to "act" as an extra in several movies. Believe me, I understand your 4 days of filming=4 minutes of film! Here's some of the movies that were shot with my "movie star":
Hope Floats, Where the Heart Is, Michael, etc.
