Default Fly in before, stay after or both

Hi,

I always fly in a day or two before a cruise so that I don't worry about flight delays and can be one of the first ones on the ship.

This last trip, I flew in 3 days before to enjoy Vancouver. After the cruise, I sort of wished that I was staying an extra day because cruise days at airports are so crazy.

Do you prefer to fly in before or stay after a cruise or do both?

We like to fly in at least a day and possibly two days early. It helps me not to worry about flight cancellations. Then we stay a day after or fly out late in the day depending on what day of the weekend the ship returns to port.

I'm with CA ...

Usually like to get home if all we are doing is arriving at a ho-hum port. We DID volunteer to be bumped in Vancouver and stay a couple of days but they wouldn't let us because we had a connecting flight.

For more exotic ports, I like a couple of days -- or more -- afterward.

"How did you like Hong Kong?"

"Nice airport."

I agree with my other 2 twins .... only like to stay afterward if it's someplace new to me.

We always like to arrive at least a day ahead that way we don't worry about flights. The Summit cruise was the first time we stayed afterwards which was great as we had never been to Vancouver before. Most of the time after the cruise is over we are ready to get home. For us it depends on what port the cruise ends.

I'm the fly in ahead, to relax a day or two, type and definitely fly home the day the cruise is over. I've stayed after in Vancouver and Montreal but really prefer not to see ships that are sailing without me on them! Susie

I like to go in a day or two early and stay a day after we get back. This gives us a chance to be the last off the ship and don't have to worry about a airport that has 2-3000 people waiting to get home. I am retired so don't have to worry about getting home on a given day. Some ports are better than others to spend an extra day after the cruise.

We're going on the Vision Sept. 8, & are flying into Vancouver a day early, & staying over a day so we can sightsee a little. I got the best airfare doing it that way. We will avoid all those Sunday travelers, too. I was wondering if we did the right thing, but now I think we probably did.
